They worked their asses off, and I can only imagine what their jobs would have been like without representation. I had always heard that "the union takes all your money" - that's nonsense. back in the late 80s (when I started there) they were charged $34.00 per month. When I retired in 2014 - they were paying $50.00 per month and that included Health Insurance and pension.

So yeah, I'm not a HUGE union guy - but I DEFINITELY see the need for them.
I ****ing despise the upper ranks of the IUAW, but I'd sure as shit rather have them than not.

I agree 100%.

Market is getting tighter with less people buying motorcycles. Taste have changed in what people want to ride. I mean just look at the Adventure market in Motorcycles...but Harley wasn't changing.
They will ride it out fine though. They make most of their money on marketing T-shirts etc..

That's a good point; I know a few guys that ride Harleys that have either already moved on, or are thinking of switching to a different bike/style that more suits their riding style/needs etc.

In no particular order, below are bikes I'm looking at to replace my Street Glide at some point. Doubt it'll be this year, more likely next year or two but who knows.
New or Used, would just depend on what's available on the the used market and what new ones are going for etc.

quite a departure for a Harley guy.
Ducati Multistrada 950 or 1200
Yamaha FJR1300
Yamaha FJ09
KTM 1290 Duke GT
Kawasaki Versys 1000LT

I guess the York Plant expansion sealed the KC Plants fate. York is huge from what I hear modernized and will handle the work that KC was doing. I would think many of those KC employees will be offered a Job at one of the survivors if they want to transfer.
That was a fun construction project to work on when they announced that KC had won the new HD plant. The people were great to work with and we took a lot of pride being a part of building it. HD was in its revival after finally buying back all the stock from AMC. I think 90% of all the people that worked the site took orders on bikes. That was when you had a 4 to 6 month wait on bikes depending on model. Those were fun days Im said to see it go.

They already have a plant there. That plant is just going to pick up on manufacturing.

I just read that Harley Davidson is making an all electric motorcycle. Never would have guessed it would be them doing it.

Haven't they already done that? I remember some nation wide event where they went from city to city with a truck load of electric Harley's for people to test ride.

They added some sort of manufactured sound to them as well. I wouldn't ride a silent one.

I would ride a silent one! Close to flying as you can get without flying. Plus I wouldn’t want Harley picking my sounds.

I see Harley is opening a new factory in Thailand. Makes me want to get a Harley tattoo and a new Harley doo rag with a American Flag motif

Ya that's the bike I remember.

I doubt I would ever buy one though it is the best looking Harley and the one that most closely reflects my taste. Those stupid looking mirrors would be the first to go for some bar end mirrors, if thats possible, not sure how many wires are being channeled up to that throttle.

EDIT: Actually just looked at the Jays Garage video on youtube on it and there arent even bar ends, it's just the rubber throttle grip wrapped around the whole thing. Deal breaker!
