So here's a good example maybe you guys can explain this 18' 4* recruit Trevor Trout. Kid looks like a beast and he's from St.Louis. Says Nebraska, Penn state and UCLA are recruiting him the hardest. Am I missing something here? It would seem like you'd do everything to get this kid to stay in state.

Duncan.....not that any of the players leaving lately had any impact but does the number of players either leaving or decommitting signal an ugly trend for MU football beyond what we already believe to be there.

It signals that there are about a dozen guys on the roster the staff doesn't think are Power 5 players. Williams and Blair were a few of them. A few of them probably won't be as easy to get rid of (even if they should be playing with their daddy at central Methodist). Quote:
They've been all over Trout since he was an eighth grader. "Recruiting the hardest" can mean a lot of things. Missouri is all over the kid. He had an offer as a freshman. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So signing day is approaching and it appears that we're probably set. No major surprises seem likely at this point.
Man...Mizzou's gonna have an okay rank but based on sheer quantity, not quality. A sub 3* average. And I know stars don't mean everything but that sure is the kind of class that sent us down this road of diminishing returns. Hopefully it's a transition class and the '18 class shows out a bit more at the top. This class sure looks to be a whole lot of forgettable.

It's not a surprise that all of the 2017 in state talent has committed to play elsewhere. The Mizzou recruiting staff is arrogant and they feel like the brand name should speak for itself. They spend little time recruiting in Kansas City and St Louis instead they spend most of their time recruiting in the southern region, mainly Texas. I feel like they got exactly what they deserve with Jafar.
For the class of 2017 Mizzou has only 1 in state commit, Da'Ron Davis and 21 out of state commits. That's pathetic. Last edited by Ken Bone; 01-29-2017 at 07:32 PM.. |

They lost Eli Gardner this weekend, too.
Helps you appreciate how imbalanced CFB is. Blue bloods come in at the last minute, put in 10% of the effort, and reap the rewards. Kind of like America, I guess.

Four years is probably right. Though, we should have a good idea if Odom will be successful by this time next year. If they miss a bowl game again and also struggle with the loaded 2018 in-state class, the writing will be on the wall, and this may end after year 3. I like Odom and still have faith in this staff - that two lightly regarded guys got chased big-time by Ohio State and Notre Dame to close the year speaks well of its ability to evaluate, IMO. But results must start showing up this year. If they don't win games, it will be hard to land much of that 18 class. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
