Jamaal Charles as trade bait?

Since Reid is a pass-happy kind of HC, and the old saying is that RBs are a dime a dozen, and (pasted from WIKI) He is currently the NFL's all-time leader in yards-per-carry average among running backs with 5.82 YPC.

His trade value will never be higher than right now, and the draft picks we'd get could go a long way toward rebuilding the O Line to protect GENO!!!

What ya think?

Yes I do. Now that the obligatory, and expected, 197 pages of childish insults which add nothing to the conversation are (hopefully) out of the way, I might add that the average career length of an NFL RB is slightly over 2.5 years. Jamaal is clearly and above average RB, but he's also been in the game a lot longer than 2.5 years, with a major knee reconstruction to boot. The Chiefs are in a(nother) rebuilding phase, and while Andy Reid has the necessary weight, he probably doesn't have the knees or speed to suit up himself. That means he needs players. When rebuilding, it's not uncommon to give up proven - yet aging - players to fill positions of need. I'd bet there are a lot of teams who feel they are just a RB away from a title. The Chiefs are 2-3 years away from competing for an AFC Championship, what will Charles have to offer in 2-3 years?

Sure Charles is a fan fave, I get that. Sometimes you have to sacrifice a rook to capture a queen.

Today, Jan. 4, 2013, Charles is about the only offensive weapon we have. Call me when this changes.

He doesn't? Since when?

He may catch 50 plus balls next year.

You do realize that JC had a GREAT year coming off the injury, right? In todays NFL teams turn things around much quicker than they used to. The Colts are a prime example

No such thing as rebuilding in the NFL. Hit on a QB and this team can contend in short order.

Oh, we have the number one pick and have the pick of the litter.....nice.

Have you ever seen him drop a pass? He just isn't thrown to often you moron. Not to mention Matt Cassel can't even throw a screen. You do realize there are different types of offense right?

Absolutely I realize that. JC was pretty much the only exciting part of the offense this season, but it's not enough. Today's NFL is more about an elite passing QB than ever before. That means today's NFL is about an O Line that can protect a passing QB more than ever before. ESPECIALLY if that QB is a rookie like Geno. Priest Holmes wasn't great in Baltimore, but was outstanding behind Shields, Roaf, and Waters. A great O Line can protect a QB and make a great RB out of an average RB.

Charles is the exception, not the rule. You don't trade away players like Peterson, Charles, ect. And with your own point, since this is passing league... teams aren't going to trade all that much for a "dime in a dozen" position.

What does that have to do with anything?

We have a good offensive line already.

Yep and with even decent QB play, the o-line will be that much better

Priest Holmes had a 1,000 yard rushing season in Baltimore.
