Need advice on cutting cable cost.

My last bill from Att was $215...sick of paying that much to watch only a few shows. I dont want to cut the cord from cable entirely. I would like to keep basic cable and internet, but still be able to watch the shows I like on HBO and showtime. I`m already a netflix subscriber, any other suggestions ? Can you buy season passes for most of the shows on HBO and Showtime?

Thanks!

Is there a site that is safe to go on that has a list of m3u8 channels available?

I have it set up perfectly on my Roku now and I'm looking for things like CBS/NBC/FOX/ABC and MLB Network

For those of you who hate Hulu because of the ads, they just launched an ad-free option for $12 month ($4/month extra compared to the normal plan).

Not as expensive as I thought it was going to be ($15) but I will still never pay for Hulu after they moved the goalposts.

$10 there

$15 over there.....

I've thought about that as well. I currently pay for Netflix and Prime (though prime is mainly for free shipping and free downloads to kids' tablets for road trips). Everything else is free through Kodi. I could get everything through Kodi, but the UI for Netflix is great for my kids and wife. Kodi is a little too advanced.

so much or ad free

However, seven prominent broadcast TV series including ABC’s “Scandal” and Fox’s “New Girl” will still be preceded by a 15-second preroll ad and followed by a 30-second post-roll ad.

I was paying about $100/month for DirecTV. I'm now doing Netflix ($8), Hulu ($12), SlingTV ($20), and a Tablo subscription ($5). So I went from $100/month to $45/month, and there's not really even much more I could add at this point. I suppose if you start throwing HBO and stuff like that you could add more, but that'd cost extra with cable/satellite too.

Seriously, if you don't like it, don't buy it. I'll gladly pay the extra, and am savvy enough to realize that they've got some sort of weird contractual obligations on those shows. Clearly, in the long run, it will all be ad free.

I have made it clear that I think Hulu Plus is a ripoff. They took the existing ad supported hulu, added some original programming and put it behind a paywall. If you want to pay for that, more power to you. I will get more content for free using Kodi.

Aside from all that, I think my post is warranted that maybe it should be noted that their "Ad Free" package has ads in it. Dont ya think?

And there's the rub. You don't like it, so you steal it. If you're OK with that, that's fine, but it doesn't exactly put you in a good position to criticize when there are legit options for those of us who prefer to support the people who create the content we enjoy.

My biggest problem with Hulu+ was the pay for ad crap. Currently paying for it, but still bitching about it. Especially during months there is nothing on I want to watch. I'm debating upgrading. My current gripe is that so many of their shows you can't watch the full season. They only have the latest 1, 3, or 5. Doesn't help me if I jump into something mid-season. Then there is the content that I have to login with a cable / satellite account in order to view. Overall I'm just finding Hulu+ to be overly convoluted in its licensing schemes and less and less interested in navigating through to find content.

If I could get Aereo back, add Sling/Netflix/HBO and figure out a way for SyFy and I would be 100% set.

Speaking of HBO, does the sling app have that shitty ass "you can't watch because only pirates root their devices" crap? The HBONow app sux.

Nevermind, no DVR feature on Sling. Won't work for me.

get off your high horse.

I can criticize a paid service that advertises its new "ad free" package, but still has ads.

Sling has on-demand for SOME channels, but not all. HBO is one of them that does have full on-demand if that's one of your major concerns.

Yeah, loving HBONow. Except for the stupid anti-root stance. Will just have to use hidemyroot or something similar. Not a huge deal. Just annoying and something I find offensive.
