Well, I'm moving from California to Kansas City

Thanks for keeping this CA native who randomly chose Chiefs as his team (on January 16, 1994) connected to the city he never knew.

Hope to see you guys around town and at tailgates.

Good luck man! I moved here about 3.5 years ago and it was the best decision I've ever made. It truly feels like home.

'05 was clearly the best year for this board BTW.

I grew up and lived in KC for 40 years before moving to San Diego. My only advice is to buy a big ass house. You will be in it a lot to escape the hot summers and cold winters.

Ha! Agreed. I moved in state almost 5 years ago and have zero regrets.

FWIW - I don't think this board does a very good job incorporating new blood. When I got here on 2010 I heard some version of "Who the hell are you?" or "Shut up newb" a ton of times from people woth 2000-2005 join dates. I got the feeling there was in insular older guard who really wasn't into taking on new members.

Having been here for a few years I don't really think that's the case. But that was the first impression I got.

This is disinformation. When you work in one state and live in another, you get a credit for the taxes you pay in the other state.

Effectively though, if you work in KS or live in KS you're paying the KS tax rates.

Screw that though...keep it on the MO side.

Let's line em up:
  • Overland Park vs. Lee's Summit? win Lee's Summit (both suck but OP is much bigger, thus more suck)
  • Lenexa vs Blue Springs? win Blue Springs solely for football
  • Midtown vs. ? Win midtown, KS has not one cool place for young urbanites, no Lawrence doesn't count
  • Olathe vs. Raytown? Nobody wins, nuke from orbit, only way to be sure
  • Shawnee vs. Independence? Win Shawnee slightly less meth
  • Roeland Park vs. Parkville/Riverside? Win Roeland Park for less police brutality
  • Leawood vs. Waldo? Win Leawood, less murdery
  • Downtown KC vs. KCK? Win KCK for better Mexican food and far less douchey bars
  • Northtown vs doesn't matter? Win doesn't matter

The science is in - KS wins in a dramatic comeback victory.

And I think we can all agree that as always, St. Louis is an abscessed boil on the devil's taint.

True. I live on the good side of State Line and work in Kansas. I get credit in MO for taxes paid to KS. Usually I owe $0 to MO, although the last couple of years the tax rates have changed and I've had to pay a small amount of MO state taxes.

Fair enough assessment. I would pick parkville/riverside because its such a beautiful area, and the river makes for some scenic areas that you can't get in the city.

Also, despite how much Olathe sucks, nothing in the area sucks worse than Raytown. Raytown is a shit hole. There are no words to describe my disdain for Raytown. Its just a god awful place to find yourself, but I think what I hate the most is being offered a mixtape at every gas station in town. Walking in to get smokes, "hey man, you want to buy my mixtape?" Then they get you again on the way out "Hey man, you gotta check out my mix tape. shit is tight... just 5 bucks man." Dude, I'm sure you are the second coming of Dre, but I just told you I'm not interested....

Yeah it was pretty much a dig at Olathe to put them in the same round with Raytown.
