2019 Rock and Roll HOF Inductees announced

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has officially announced next year’s inductees for the class of 2019:

• Radiohead
• Janet Jackson
• Stevie Nicks
• Def Leppard
• The Cure
• Roxy Music
• The Zombies

The induction ceremony will be held at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on March 29th. An edited version of the event will air later on HBO alongside a SiriusXM radio broadcast. Ticket details will be announced in January.

Artists are eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25 years after the release of their first album or single. Kraftwerk, Todd Rundgren, Rage Against the Machine, Rufus & Chaka Khan, MC5, LL Cool J, John Prine and Devo were all nominated, but failed to make the cut. No newly-eligible acts made it in this year, but this was the first time that Def Leppard and Nicks appeared on the ballot (though Nicks was inducted as a member of Fleetwood Mac in 1998). She will become the only woman to enter the Hall of Fame on two occasions.

Rob Argent was one of the founding members - he went on to form "Argent" another late 60s-early 70s band

As far as I know "The Zombies" had that one song - yet Steppenwolf (11 albums) is STILL shunned....go figure

It took Rush over ten years to get in, same with other Real Rock Artist- but Jackson is just sooo amazing she gets right in. It is nothing but a watered down music memorabilia tourist trap.

They're just letting everyone in now.

For instance, I like The Zombies a lot. They did quality stuff. But they had a brief run, and I don't see how they had a major influence on later bands (they were experimental in the 60s, but not at the level of The Beatles or Beach Boys or other groups). Roxy Music, OTOH, was highly influential (along with Bowie) on 80s synth pop -- the music and the fashion -- as well as being an accomplished group themselves.

Just because someone has a hit or two shouldn't qualify them for the hall.

The Zombies in before Todd Rundgren? Come on.

I've liked some of Janet's music over the years, but this isn't rock. Either make Halls of Fame for the different genres of music, or just change the name to the Music Hall of Fame.
