Overreaction Planet Vol. 15

I want my own thread for it this year. I'm probably going to do it every year. A nice little repository where I can glean through the annals of Chiefsplanet and get the pulse of our user base as the season unfolds from week to week. Hopefully it'll be a good time.

Wish I'd thought of this before the year started, but better late than never. Or not. I don't really give a shit. I've given an idea of what this thread will be about in post 12, but here is a PRIME example of the kinds of posts you can expect to see in Overreaction Planet.

What the hell does Clark do? The most that will happen is Reid and Sutton being fired, and that isn't fixing the crux of the problem. We're still stuck with AS. Clark isn't unloading him. He won't take that cap hit.

We have to ride this out, unfortunately.

I'm impervious to the pain nowadays. It's like a punch in the gut. Hurts for a little while but I'm not getting out of the fandom ring.

Yeah, man. The Denver game in week 2 I think sucked the last bit of emotion out of me over losing. I'm probably just kidding myself though. The Monday night game though, just didn't blast me at all. In the 2nd quarter I knew how it was going to end, and was just a bit shocked. Like, hmm, didn't see that coming. Oh well.

I hate to say it, but I've given up on Alex Smith.

He plays with absolutely no emotion, too much fear and absolutely no aggression.

Defenses know it and are taking away the little gimme passes and forcing him to play outside is comfort zone and he simply can't do it.

I know Denver and GB have very good defenses, but we failed to even try to attack them.

Last year, we played Denver week 2, and then San Francisco in week 3. After the San Fran game, when he shit completely down his leg I swore him off. Somehow I allowed myself to be talked back onto his bandwagon by the end of the year. Not anymore. He's being paid WAY too much money, and my only ****ing hope is that the front office is having this conversation as well.

I do have faith that Dorsey will not chain his career to a QB he traded for like the fat piece of shit that proceeded him. Dorse is too smart for that IMO. Whatever the cap hit is, you have to accept it and move on. The caveat being when the time is right. They should actively be assessing their options for QBotF, because we do NOT have a franchise QB, yet we're paying someone like they are.

So yeah, the overreaction is one thing. But the rallying around the overreaction is ridiculous.

You should go through and put some of the homer posts and giddy 12-4 / 11-5 predictions in.

So, you're impervious to the pain or it hurts for a little while?

I laugh at the Chiefs' woes... watched JC's fumble, chuckled, and went to bed. Far more interested in the Royals/Cubs the other night and actually enjoyed watching a real quarterback when I flipped to football.

Even for the teams that have actually delivered in the past 30 years, I've learned to get up for games, but immediately brush off defeat, as people should with things completely out of their control. Fandom can exist without the kick to the balls. The only exceptions are the exceptionally stupid, like watching Elijah Johnson do everything possible to lose to Michigan... those leave a WTF?! for a little while.

The one positive is that Big Red is much easier to rattle than Rodgers. If we can get pressure on him we'll have a chance.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

They're just random posts, man. It's not a call out thread, or designed to make anyone look bad. Just a general pulse of the board regarding the team week in and week out. I'm going to add some more to that post and others through the season.

Who cares, honestly?

We're not winning anything of import with Alex Smith at QB. A win in Cincinnati would just be counterproductive, I feel.

Gotcha. I was on Tapatalk and it showed that I was the author of all three posts. I just wanted to clarify that the latter two weren't mine.
