Now we'll see what they do with Santos and Albert Wilson.

Good news w/r/t to any potential Mitchell defection in '18 if he plays well again in '17.

It's a little more than I'd want to pay Sorenson given the depth of the S class in this year's draft, but Sorenson really was a johnny on the spot player for us and some guys just have a nose for the football. I suspect he'll be in the middle of several big plays for us again this year.

I'd rather see some shit team overpay for him and give up a 2nd to do so, but that ain't happening. He's coming back.
If Mitchell plays like he did last year......then I fully expect to see him receive a 1st round tender.

Depends on the league-wide state of the cap and the strength of the draft.

The Chiefs could game it a bit; determine that they're better served with the 2nd round pick and put that on him. A 1st round tender would A) be pretty damn expensive and B) definitely not be beaten. A 2nd round would be cheaper and, worst case scenario, yield a 2nd round pick.

So if the draft is deep and the league doesn't have a ton of spare cap sitting around, the Chiefs may just decide to put the 2nd round on him and see if anyone bites. A 2nd round pick is a pretty damn impressive return.

If they're willing to put a 1st round tender on him, they'd be willing to give him a long-term deal. I think that's what you'd see instead. If they still aren't sold on him, then the 2nd would be most likely.

But we're getting waaaaay ahead of ourselves there.

#Chiefs put a 2nd-round restricted tender on Daniel Sorensen, source said. Keeping Chris Ballard from poaching him for new gig with #Colts?

If they hadn't put at least the 2nd round tender, he would have been gone. I believe Santos might be considering his was not at that level.

Chiefs need to steer clear of the FA market this year if they want to have the capital to sign these guys long term along with guys like Mitchell, Ford, etc. headed into the 2018 offseason.

Still another year left, but I don't really give a shit about Ford.

People bitch about Houston, but he was ****ing injured. Ford was healthy as an ox all year and seemingly disappeared.

Well, sorta. Ford went out of the TB game with a hamstring injury in the 1st quarter and didn't return to his full time starting role until the Raiders game at home.

Don't get me wrong, his production slipped. But Houston had 11 sacks in his 3rd year, missed 5 games with the elbow injury. Ford had 10 here in his 3rd year and I wouldn't put it past him to have a mega year with a contract ahead. I don't think he's ever going to be Houston or have a season like he did in 2014, but 12-15 sacks wouldn't shock me from Ford in 2017.

Is he going to do that from the WLB spot (Tamba's spot?) That's what he has yet to prove.

Andy Reid says there’s a chance S Daniel Sorensen could start practicing this week. Reid will meet with head athletic trainer Rick Burkholder this afternoon to discuss the plan for him.
