Just got the call that one of the pups has Multiple Myeloma - bone cancer.

This goddamn disease has taken enough of my family, now the dog?

The wife doesn't know yet, she's going to be crushed.

Has anyone else dealt with this? How long before you had to make "the decision"?

She's in good spirits now, she just can't get around as well as she used to.

Had it with one dog. She was pretty good one day and gone the next. It took her fast. I figured I had a couple days to spoil her and then have the vet do his thing. She died in my arms as I loaded her in the truck. Yeah, I bawled like a bitch.

I'm so sorry to hear about your dog.

Our dog didn't have cancer, but she had an enlarged heart. We were spending $300+ a month for vet visits and prescriptions to help keep her comfortable. She would have passed away a few years prior had it not been for the meds.

Towards the end, she could barely manage to walk and was losing control of her bladder/bowels. The night before we had her put down, we fed that dog everything you could imagine... twinkies, vanilla wafers, etc. She was curled up next to us the entire night, loving every bit of the attention. The next morning was extremely tough, but we knew that we were doing the right thing. I miss my little girl.

Sorry to hear about it.

One of our cats had lymphoma. He did chemotherapy and managed it pretty well for about six months, but it couldn't cure the cancer. At some point you just know that their quality of life isn't good and you have to do the right thing by them. You can tell when that point is.

I feel for you...I just lost one of my grandmothers to skin cancer a month ago, and found out this morning that my other grandmother (last of the grandparents) has colon cancer. She is going in for surgery on Tuesday...**** CANCER!
