Movies

Yeah, so I saw a lot of movies this weekend.

Elizabeth: The Golden Age - Mediocre, at best. Slow and dragged on. Shorten it to 2 hours and it's golden. It's not, so it fails.

Michael Clayton - Amazing. Everything about it is awesome. However, it's VERY complex and mind bending. You have to think, so be prepared. I still feel like I'm missing key details of exactly what happened. Gotta see it again.

Across the Universe - Perfect is one word that comes to mind. It just works. And, contrary to many people I bet, the movie is best viewed sober. Trust me.

Well the first one is easy to like. Cilian Murphy was incredible in it, IMO. I too, am also a huge fan of zombie, undead, "rage-induced" movies too. I also love, love, love the music in both. I would get into this more but I hate posting via my phone.

Watched Kung Fu Panda 2 this weekend. Pretty enjoyable little movie. Agree with DeBerg, nice popcorn movie.

For Memorial Day, dug out some old classics: Operation: Burma (w/Errol Flynn), Sahara (w/Humphrey Bogart), They Were Expendable (w/John Wayne) and Kelly's Heroes (w/Clint Eastwood).

Busy movie weekend:

Kung Fu Panda 2 : As stated, worth going to see with your kids

The Fighter : Excellent, glad I finally got around to watching this

IP Man : Really good martial arts movie on Netflix instant watch

From Paris with Love : Pretty terrible Travolta action movie, although slightly better than my expectations. Also on instant watch, so may be worth your time if you're looking for brainless action

Solaris : HBO, Clooney sci-fi movie. It was ok, maybe I wasn't really in the mood for a deep thinking type movie. Clooney was solid as usual, and I really like Jeremy Davies (he basically rehashed this role later in LOST).

Watched Paranormal Activity 2 last night. Normally I'm an avid horror movie watcher. There were times between both 1 and 2 I jumped. Crazy.

About to watch Visioneers now.

I'd like the first one just for Cilian Murphey and the amazing soundtrack/scores

Well then, its now my duty to inform you, that i did not know that.

I wish he'd go conventional more often.

Jackie Brown, Death Proof and Inglorious Bastards were all mostly told linear.

Agreed on JB, dont remember much of DP & i'm prolly mistaken since i've only watched it once, but i though IB was one his most time-twisted plots ever.

Ip Man number one or two? I saw number two in a Red Box kiosk and was going to grab it for the family. The kids and I really enjoyed the first one.

Nope..it really wasnt. Its broken up into 4 or 5 different chapters and has a few flashbacks, but 97% of it is fairly straightforward timewise.

That was campy, goofy, horror fun. That was like Scary Movie meets Friday the 13th.

Loved that movie. "It's time, Lord..." Thought that was pretty creepy. Plus Kate Hudson is pretty damn fine.

Yeah that movie had the most intense first 15 minutes I can recall, but the movie never really matched it. My biggest problem was that they never explained why tthe dad was so smart when he got infected. Did the virus get stronger after fighting the mom's immunity for so long? And if so, why then didn't all of the other infected have similar intelligence. That really made no sense and it seemed like they just made him that way to further the plot.

The Paranormals have been the only legit scary movies I've seen in years. The last movie to actually frighten me (like, have me affected for days after watching), was The Ring.
