Josh Allen - QB, Wyoming
Anybody heard anything on this kid?
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2...ramming-league Am I getting Sidd Finched here? I've heard absolutely nothing about him. Measurables look good. Production doesn't seem quite as gaudy as you'd like from that level but it's not like he was in DII. His competition isn't terribly far away from what we saw from Wentz. Anybody have any impressions one way or the other? It just seems odd that he's stayed completely under the radar. Wentz had gained quite a bit of traction by now and this kid hasn't. Seems like Bleacher Report is talking out its ass. Last edited by DJ's left nut; 01-03-2017 at 03:15 PM.. Reason: Wrong school |

There's some Aaron Rodgers kind of stuff if you find more videos on him. He's constantly looking downfield as he's moving and will let the ball go from virtually any angle. It appears to often work to his detriment, but the arm talent and pure biomechanics are there.
That's what makes Rodgers so impossible - the guy can scramble for seven seconds, never lose track of what's happening downfield and then unleash a dart against his momentum and into a window about a yard square. He does a little of that. Don't like his feet; he seems largely ambivalent about where he puts them. His top half also looks like it might lag a little bit; much more of a slinger than you'd want. When your top half and bottom half don't line up, it's hard to maintain any semblance of accuracy (every throw is one you're feeling for rather than just making) because your base isn't the same on every throw. Some throws will be pinpoint; others way off the mark. I suppose that could explain the sub-par completion percentage. I'd imagine he's going back to school if he doesn't get at least a 2nd round grade; hard to justify that kind of risk but you'd have to do some due diligence and at the back of the 2nd, seems like the time to take a gamble. Then again, the kid's a year away from even being a premier prospect so he's probably 3 away from being pro ready. If you drafted him in the 2nd, you'd get maybe 1 good year before having to make the 'Cousins Call' on him. Probably a guy to stay away from; may not even be in the draft. But I'll be watching if he does come out.

Pretty averse to picking anyone that doesn't complete at least 60 percent of their passes in college. He'll need to stay in school and improve. A lot.

Smart move for him would be to stay in school for another couple of years and refine his game. He has the tools to develop into a #1 overall QB but is far from that level of a player right now.

Yeah I'll change the thread title accordingly. I knew it couldn't have been Montana, because Montana actually has this huge QB named Gustafson who is a healthy 6'6", 250 lbs. he's a maaajor project and I'm lukewarm on him.
Haven't seen Wyoming once this year. Thanks for the heads up. |

He's okay. I'd suggest watching the 2016 Poinsetta Bowl game which was Wyoming versus BYU.
Tanner Mangum the BYU QB is legit. And check out Harvey Langi ILB for BYU And Jamaal Williams RB for BYU. Kai Nacua S for BYU. All potential good draft choices for the Chiefs in 2017 (Other than the two QBs who aren't elligible until 2018. |

Crazy amounts of ability but some real consistency and decision-making issues there.

Figured he would.
I was just hoping he'd see the weaker QB crop this year and think it was the time to strike. May not have talked myself into him either way but there's a ton of talent to work with there. That's the kind of guy I'd have liked to see us go after in the late first rather than Watson. Most of Allen's problems come from decisionmaking and I think that's easier to fix than bad mechanics/habits. Those will always surface again under pressure and that's the time that you absolutely can't have them.

55.9 completion percentage is troubling.
