Chiefs hire Jay Valai to be Defensive quality control.

Doesn't this pretty much confirm that Sutton is staying? You wouldn't hire a defensive coach if you were just about to switch your entire Defensive Staff.

I'm told he'll also help coach the DBs or LBs, but that part is not finalized yet.
Does this mean that Al Harris and/or Emmitt Thomas or Gary Gibbs and/or Mark DeLeone are candidates to be fired?

I don't see the need for three Secondary coaches or three linebackers coaches.

I don't know, man.

I think there's a slight possibility that Reid is eying a coach that was either still in the playoffs as of yesterday or possibly still in the playoffs as of today.

I think it's interesting that for the last two hires, Reid reached into the College Coaching ranks and not the NFL.

Right, thats why i see this as a first move. Get the guy in the building, once whomever is available, decide who goes where.

You would want your new DC to make decisions about his new staff. Unless we have already agreed to terms with our new coach and he is the one making these decisions. I highly doubt it.

Changing lower coaches usually means you aren't changing higher coaches.

It would seem even Sutton is immune to the power of The Claying.

Indeed he is powerful.

If they're looking at LBs and DBs, maybe it's because Emmitt Thomas and Gibbs are nearing retirement. Then again, Sutton is older than Gibbs is. Still holding out hope that there are some more dominos to fall because if they don't, this is a strange move. With the age of our defensive assistants you'd have to think the Chiefs are planning for a lot of these guys to fall off real soon.

Throw in this move with the lack of any rumors about us going after Zimmer of Spags....

If we do end up hiring one of those guys, it'll be one of the most leak-proof moves I can remember in the NFL.

Sutton has been absorbing fetus at Children's Mercy for years.

There are many guys (James Bettcher, Steve Spagnuolo to name a few) that don't know their fate.

Reid might be waiting it out.

Bad move. Sutton deserves to be fired and they won't do it. That really sucks.

It's a "Bad Move" to hire a Defensive Quality Control coach, you know, the guy that analyzes video all week, trying to find out how to exploit the opposing offense?

Huh?

This is an Entry Level Position for a supposedly really bright coach.
