Does it only happen in Windows? Try booting to DOS setup at startup, see if it happens there.
Do you have a disc in the optical drive that might be spinning up? You might take the case off if you can, and see if you can pinpoint the sound. My guess is probably hard drive. If so, you should back up data soon. HD is probably failing. Sometime the little seek head that reads the actual HD disk can get a little off or stuck, and it can imitate an old time record player when the needle reached the end of the record. It will keep whacking until it eventually malfunctions itself.

I'd back up all data from the subwoofer right away.

How? There's not a USB port or anything. I don't see a way to do it through Device Manager, either.

Sure, but why would it happen every 60 seconds? Bad shielding on the cable?

Aha! The culprit was the Wi-Fi card! It's below the sound card and the antenna were pretty close to the sound cable. Removed antenna (use Ethernet cable anyway) and it's gone.
Thanks guys.

Take the side panel off and unhook the hard drive. Take it out of the bay and remove the rails. Now take the hard drive into the kitchen and put it in the microwave for about 4 minutes. That should fix it.

You'll need a subliminal-isticatamblabam S04DF Add-on piece. Something like $4.
