Sutton says we dont need Peters

Bob Sutton downplays absence of Marcus Peters vs. Raiders

The Chiefs suspended cornerback Marcus Peters as a result of his bizarre behavior late in Sunday’s loss to the Jets, when he threw a flag in to the stands, presumed he’d been ejected, left the playing area, and then returned in full uniform — but without socks. With the 6-6 Raiders coming to town, the Chiefs won’t be the same on defense without him, right?

Wrong, according to defensive coordinator Bob Sutton.

“It doesn’t change dramatically,” Sutton said of the Kansas City defense without Peters. “You guys have asked me a thousand times about why doesn’t he shadow, why doesn’t Marcus do this, and it is because our system is set up so, certainly Marcus is a really good football player and we will miss him, but it is just part of football. Whether it is injury or whatever. We can’t really change this late and really do much different than what we would do. Guys stepping up and got to play their tails off.”

Sutton also was asked with Kenneth Acker will be the next man up in the absence of Peters.

“I wouldn’t say that, I wouldn’t tell you who it is going to be anyways,” Sutton said. “Honestly, we are rolling guys through both places.”

Having Darrelle Revis around helps, assuming they’ll use him for more than the first half. Whatever they do, it’s a must-win game for the Chiefs, who are in danger of becoming the third team in three years to start 5-0 and miss the playoffs.

Peters is having a really bad year. He's not a shutdown corner. He's a gambler who gets beat at times but makes big plays in return. This year he isn't making those plays. I don't think losing him will have a huge effect.

We gave up 417 yards and 4 TDs to Carr with Peters on the field last game, I sincerely doubt it could get any worse and with Peters recent play declining I don't see how it gets any better with him on the field without learning some lessons.

And we still should have won that ****ing game.

Last thing this franchise needs is Buttons and his laughable defense.

I think burn % is how often you allow more than a yard of separation in coverage.

Yep, Alex was on the cusp of FG range to make it a two score game and also had another chance to run the clock out and went 3 and out. Despite all that other shit. Like I said, a franchise QB covers up a lot of mistakes, weaknesses, etc.

The Offense AND the defense played well enough to win that game. We lost that game because we got completely jobbed by the refs, but you go ahead and blame Alex, because that's what you do.

We did get jobbed by the refs. We didn’t lose because of Alex. His point is still valid. A guy who makes plays at the end of the game can overcome that crap. You think the Patriots never get bad calls or things don’t go their way? I’m sure there are plenty of games they could have valid excuses to lose. But they just win anyway cause they have a badass at QB.

No doubt we got jobbed. Ask yourself this. If we play out young hotshot qb, do you think we get jobbed in that game and the playoff game? I firmly believe that not only does akex nit get it done at crunch time, that he is also not marketable. 34 year old game managers doesn't excite the networks. As a result, the league says **** you. They like carr.
