I was an editor for Guinness about 30 years ago -- back then they used third-party contractors who were "approved" as experts in their field to monitor such stuff. The Guinness people themselves are completely agnostic, though that did seem to change a bit when the new management came in.

Why arent other tean like Denver and GB jumping in the fray? Most likely because it means nothing. Like a dog chasing its tail.

I'm no expert (I defer to whoever that is here) but my layman's reading of how decibels work - we would have had to basically double the level of noise from our last record to get to 140db and then double that again to get to 143db?
If that is the case then it is impossible to believe it happened. |

Congrats on the well played game tonight, the Chiefs looked good!
Congrats on the Guinness deal too I guess. Hopefully this nonsense Guinness stuff will end. I personally think it's stupid. |

The NFL's marketing department will keep milking this until it becomes a cartoon. They'll be announcing that Tampa Bay has reached 800 decibels after another 50 iterations.

I've been going to the games for 24 years now and that was the loudest I've ever heard it. There was not an empty seat in the house, very little humidity to dampen the noise and no wind. Perfect conditions. I was at the Oakland game last year when we set the record and tonight was far louder.

apparently they believe there was a 3 2 1 countdown at the stadium where everyone screamed at once.

The NFL's marketing department doesn't care.

The horrible thing is Seattle seems destined to claim it in the end. They keep getting the 2nd chance at it during the season. And you know Guinness will just hand it over.
