Which adobe issue? There's the general issue of flash dying and then there's the related but really a tangent issue of apple v adobe.

This is a perfect example of what I said with HTML5 adoption rates... yes, companies like google will try to push the technology forward... Chrome is based on Webkit.. Safari is based on Webkit... yet it works in Chrome and not Safari...

Do you know why?

This is not as simple as you like to think... it WILL happen... but it WILL take time, lots of it. I have watched these things evolve over the last 17 years...

You're right, I should have said nightly Safari. Same difference.

I'm still going to side with the fact you're short selling HTML 5's adoption rate.

The problem is that since webkit doesn't support drag and drop... Chrome had to put in their own implentation... Safari will likely do the same.. at which point Google will need to go back and program in support for Safari (since none of it is standardized yet)

So, let's assume Safari's developers get cracking and next month release an update that supports drag/drop. That will then need to go to Google's developers for them to add gmail drag/drop Safari-style support... so let's add another month...

..and this is just ONE feature/aspect of HTML5... I stated 2 weeks ago that it will be 12-18 months (at best) before html5 sees enough adoption to matter... so I will revise it to 12-18 months minus 2 weeks...

it really isn't .. except the point of me even bringing it up was that I wouldn't want a tablet that relies on HTML5 for web video and other functionality if I have to wait 12-18 months for it to kick in... at which point prices and technology will have rendered my tablet nearly obsolete.

If I needed the tablet primarily for reading not surfing then I wouldn't care really...

Or, alternatively, Webkit will co-opt Chrome's use and go with it.

again, it's simply not that easy. I do this for a living, it is massively more complicated than it would appear it needs to be. I wish it wasn't, I'd rather be wrong than wait over a year for the new tech... but I'm willing to bet I'm not.
