Thinking it could go 6 was the most optimistic I could be, and wouldn't have been surprised if they got swept or lost in 5. |

Hammond looked great. If the Avs can play the same game they played in game 4 but have Hammond play like he did tonight instead of a banged-up Bernier, I think they can send this to 7.

Wow close game between Bruins and Leafs.
Leafs almost blew a 4-1 lead again only to win 4-3. They were hanging on their heels in this one and got outshot 45-21. Frederick Andersen made some ridiculous saves and helped bail the Leafs out. It seems like the more shots he faces, the better he plays. That guy is one of the best goalies in the NHL. |

This Flyers/Pens game is the sloppiest hockey I've see in a while.

Couturier is single handedly trying to keep the Flyers alive, Gudas is single handedly trying to send them to the golf course.

Well, Gudas and the refs. That was a TERRIBLE no-call on Letang that leads directly to a goal.

This had a 8-7 feeling from the beginning.... a ridiculous way to finish off this uninteresting series.

If Couturier played only the Penguins, he’d be a first-ballot Hall of Famer.
This dude has killed the Penguins for years. |

Quote:
http://www.nhl.com/nhl/en/v3/ext/rul...L-rulebook.pdf The penalty shot section mentions "If, in the opinion of the Referee, a player makes contact with the puck first and subsequently trips the opponent in so doing, no penalty shot will be awarded, but a minor penalty for tripping shall be assessed." .....which is of course confusing with not calling a penalty at all if a trip occurs with a "completed play". The USA hockey rule book defines it a bit clearer... "However, no penalty shall be assessed under this rule if, in the opinion of the Referee, the player was clearly hook-checking or poke-checking the puck for the purpose of gaining possession." https://www.usahockeyrulebook.com/pa...g-leg-checking Guess it depends what a "completed play" means. |
