DayZ
With the DayZ standalone playable alpha release looming, I thought I would check out the mod version of the game. http://dayzdev.tumblr.com/

If you dont know, DayZ is an open world survival zombie game modification based off of the military sim ArmA 2 games. www.dayzmod.com

Basically its hardcore mode survival against zombies and even more dangerous, other players.

I have been watching vids for months and took advantage of a steam sale today to pick up ArmA 2.

Anyone playing DayZ right now? Servers? Thoughts? I have a teamspeak we can use!

The patch ****ed the game up with it being pitch black. You cant see anything, its unplayable. They need to fix it, i even used my flashlight and all i could see was stars in the sky.


edit-
I may be done playing til they fix this dark problem. Even with your damned flashlight all you can see is a little spot on the corner of your screen. Once it goes dark, its time to log off, then you cant really serverhop anymore or you gotta wait 5 and 10 min to switch servers and look for one that has daytime going on. lol

You can check the time of the server before you enter to go into a daytime server.

770 is a nice piece. DayZ is all CPU limited as of right now. early in the development process with debugging tools and messy code its going to be fairly rough no matter what.

i have to run my cpu on low settings lol with this i may be able to bump it up a little bit.

I'm thinking our little squad can go out to the NW airflield, loot the shit out of it, get on a populated server, then crush anyone coming in trying to loot it. 5-6 of us should be able to hold it.

The problem is that currently, next to no one goes out to NW unless they do it once and server hop until full of loot. Its lonely out there.

I find it best to get a rudimentary amount of loot near the coast, and go into berezino or svetlo and shoot somebody in the face who has an m4

Also apparently they know about the mega zombies and you have to headshot them even with an ax, which kinda sucks dick for 3rd person. Its a 'known issue'

I think hard zombies is better. When I first heard of DayZ last year I imagined the Zombies were an actual threat. I was sort of sad to see they weren't.

So Zombies require a headshot now? That's pretty much how you kill Zombies in every other Zombie scenario.

I will get on tonight. If there are people to play with, cool, if not, I'm gonna start playing hardcore.

Should they take 25 axe hits to take down? :/ Its honestly annoying as **** because they are super fast etc. Remember they also warp to you, walk through walls and fences etc.



Eventually there will be HORDES of them, and not just random stragglers like there is now.
Right now zombies are BAD.
