VARSITY
(Way too early) 2025 Round 1 Chiefs Targets

With the football season kicking off soon, I’m curious to know which positions we will target, and who the players are at those positions that we should be watching.

What say you?

Would/will be a great draft to have several top 100 picks.
Hitting on our top 4 picks this year is crucial!

This is why DJ Humphries is so important. If he works out for a few years you aren’t desperately trading a bunch of draft picks to move up for a LT.

The 2022 class was incredible but next year is the last year for them minus a guy or two you extend. The last 2 drafts have not been great. They really need to hit on the 4 top 100 picks.

They need young guys with energy to come in and start producing

So it’s pretty understood that corner is the biggest need outside of tackle right? Watson and Williams in a contract year and we have struggled massively in the slot replacing Sneed.

Watson did really well outside but we need a versatile guy to replace Sneed. I think we need to draft multiple corners in this next draft

I'd draft a corner or two but I'd hope to do it after the first round. We just get by at that position doing that more than others.

If it's another McDuffie situation where you have a chance to get a blue chip, go for it, but otherwise I'd keep doing what has worked there.

Yeah, with Watson back I think that position is okay for a couple of seasons, not a high draft need.

We're kind of in the place where we just need to get 3 or 4 good players from any and all drafts to stay afloat. It almost doesn't matter where they play; because they're NOT going to be LT's or stud pass rushers. Unfortunately, we're going to have to pay for those, so we'll need to go cheap and young in multiple other spots.

I don't think Trey Smith OR Bolton get re-upped.

We badly need a win-fast pass rusher and a LT. If Humphries plays well, just do whatever to keep him for a couple of years.

I don't think they'll let Bolton walk. He's gonna be the Creed contract of the defense.

Keep an eye on LT Josh Conerly Jr., Oregon. He's probably going to shoot up draft boards once people get to the tape. Only 6 pressures given up on the season. Very athletic.

I’m also intrigued by his counterpart at RT, Ajani Cornelius.

“[Oregon’s] offensive line led the nation with just five sacks allowed. [Ajani’s] stellar play was instrumental in Oregon's high-powered offense, which led the nation in passing (346.9 YPG) and ranked second in total offense (531.4 YPG). Cornelius didn’t surrender a single sack in 512 pass blocking snaps. He projects as a solid day-two draft pick with the potential to develop into a Pro Bowl-caliber right tackle. Low-risk, high-reward prospect."

I’ve been pounding the table for Devin Neal in the mid rounds for 2+ years and I’ll continue to do so.

32. Kansas City Chiefs — Ashton Jeanty, RB, Boise State
A steal! Ashton Jeanty is one of the two or three best players in the class but winds up in the hands of the Chiefs, who should be thrilled about being able to add him to the offense. Jeanty has a rare combination of strength, balance and speed that will make him a nightmare for NFL defenses.

I've seen James Pearce fall to us at the end if R1 in a couple of mocks. Seems unlikely, and he is absolutely not the "type" I expect Spags to covet, even if that commitment to type is not set in stone. BUT, a speed rusher with length and potential to pack on size, I really wouldn't hate that.
