Anyone here doing the E-Cig / Vape thing?

Thanks to my vape, I've had only one single cigarette in the past 3 weeks. I have zero cravings for them and I feel considerably better. In fact, I still have about 5 smokes left in a pack and just can't see myself smoking those... don't want to.

Even better... 5ml of juice, which costs $5, lasts me about 2 weeks meaning that I am spending less in the long run. I only smoked, at most, a pack a week... but still.

I tried the Blu E-Cigs but they were terrible. Trying to "smoke" out of one of those was like trying to take a hit off a joint that was rolled WAY to tight.

I'm using an eGo-V v2 mega battery with variable voltage control with a gravity tank.

I was a half pack a day smoker, a small bottle will last a week, a large bottle has lasted me about 3 weeks. I go through about 3/4 of a tank a day. I take a few vapes before work and don't pick it up again until after work and vape through out the evening.

Thanks for the help fellas. I used to use blu a few years ago and got off smokes for about 4 months before my daughter was born. Im hoping this time with all the increased flavor possibilities and overall better taste/performance I will be able to kick big tobacco to the curb for good.

It's been six months for me with the MVP, for juice I'm currently digging the Blue Raspberry.

Heres an update on some of the new products Ive tried in the last month or so. If any of you have tried new products that you recommend please post.

Well a couple months ago I went ahead and purchased an EH pro Kayfun 3.1, actually two of them. These vape very well (taste, vapor) and are not hard to coil, but with all the OT Ive been working this summer I found I prefer more of an ego style setup when away from home for 12 or more hrs at a time, climbing telephone poles, etc.

So I got a couple ego style VV batteries to go along with the provari (which is about as large a mod as I want to carry around these days).

The main tanks I had were three Nautilus's and the two Kayfun's. They are fine for home, but were too bulky and inconvenient at work so I got some smaller clearomizers that would fit the circumstances better. I tried more clearo's then Im listing here, but these are the ones that I recommend. NOTE: Ive had all three of these for a week or less but have encountered ZERO issues from any of them.

Kanger Aerotank Mini: This came with the new dual coil by Kanger. Ive got to say these new coils are great. The flavor is very good out of this little tank. The adjustable airflow is very nice too and for me a must have. Definitely recommend this tank. http://www.worldofvape.com/kanger-aerotank-mini/

Nautilus Mini: The mini comes with Aspire new BVC. These new coils are compatible with the regular Nautilus as well. Ive only been vaping on this for a couple of days now, but so far Im really impressed. The new coil design is a noticeable improvement over the old BDC Nautilus coils in terms of flavor. Also these coils are said to last much longer then the old style Nautilus ones. The adjustable airflow control ring seems to have been improved over the original Nautilus as well. The mini holds 2.0 ml and is a little wider diameter then other mini pyrex glass clearomizers which is a plus. http://shop.desertvapes.com/product....categoryId=124

Mini Silus tank by Freemax: Ok this one is relatively unknown, but in doing some searching it is highly regarded by people who have used it. So I gave it a try. This little tank vapes very, very well. It has the smoothest hit of any of the ones Ive tried and the flavor is very good. It looks similar in style to the Aerotank but the coil setup is different and to me its clearly a better tank then the Aerotank as far as the vaping experience goes. It has adjustable airflow of course, and is easy to fill from either the top or the bottom. This exceeded my expectations and I will be purchasing the regular Silus tank for use on the provari. Here is a better review on this mini Silus. http://www.kickcigsnow.com/mizers/cl...ax-silus-mini/
http://dreamvapor.com/index.php?rout...&product_id=98

I would rank in this order, and all three above the large Nautilus(old BDC Nautilus coils) which was my favorite non RBA.

1. mini Silus
2. mini Nautilus( with new BVC)
3. mini Aerotank( with new Kanger coils)

Wow, thanks for that. My Nautilus works extremely well until the atty goes out. And it goes out too quickly sometimes. It is frustrating. I'll grab the new ones and try them.

get started

Looks like this stuff changes fast. So what's a good way to get started? Good kits? Brands? Somewhat reasonably priced, don't want to drop a small fortune like some people are. Recommended sites? Thinking about giving this a try. Thanks in advance!!

Well I dont really recommend kits because they usually pair the mod/battery your going for with garbage atomizers, but Im not saying there are absolutely no good starter kits out there Ive just yet to find them.

If I was to get a buddy started id probably recommend an inexpensive but reliable battery mod with VV/ VW to start out with http://shop.desertvapes.com/product....categoryId=122 or http://www.worldofvape.com/innokin-i...vp-2-full-kit/. Innokin seems to make good batteries and mods IMO that have more features then the cheaper ego spinners and twists. The two I linked should come with a pass through USB charger that you can charge at a wall outlet with this http://www.worldofvape.com/anyvape-usb-wall-adapter/ or from any USB port like your computer.

Now you need a decent clearomizer to hold your e liquid. To me these make a big difference in how your e liquid tastes and vapes. Now you can find cheap ones in the $5 -$10 range but for me those have always been a waste of money. Your flavor is muted, they leak, gurgle, you will get dry hits, etc. Clearomizers have advanced a lot in the last year. There is really no reason not to have one that vapes awesome all the time. (well almost all the time)
Id spend a bit more on a good glassomizer to ensure your getting the best of everything out of your juice. Id recommend Aspire first, with the new Nautilus BVC coils and then Kanger aerotank with the updated Kanger coils. you can decide which size tanks you prefer.
http://www.worldofvape.com/aspire-nautilus-mini/
http://originvape.com/product/kanger-aerotank-v2/

You will have a good amount of control of your flavor, vapor and desired throat hit with a variable voltage/wattage battery and adjustable airflow on your tanks.

As far as your eliquid. I haven't found a spot that Im totally sold on online. I have some I like, but you might be better off finding your local vape store and sampling their lines of e juices. Some of the other guys on here could help you more on that.

See what other guys on here suggest too. Just look everything over and decide whats best for your situation, but Id give vaping a try just to get of regular cigarettes.

As far as sites I like for hardware

FYI.... Some studies are finally being done on ecigs...

Studies Reveal Health Risks Of E-Cigarettes

Quote:
Earlier this year, a study found that increasing an e-cig’s voltage from 3.2V to 4.8V while using an e-liquid with both solvents produced almost as much formaldehyde as a traditional cigarette. While the human body produces formaldehyde as a byproduct of normal metabolic activity in the cells, it is suspected of being carcinogenic when inhaled. The same study also found that at lower voltages, e-cigs produced up to 800 times less formaldehyde than a cigarette. While this might sound a lot safer, the size of the vapor particles and the delivery method into the lungs heavily impact the risk of disease.

Particles found in inhaled cigarette smoke have a median size of 0.3-0.5 microns. Testing has found that the e-cigarette particles have a median of 0.18-0.27 microns. About 40% of these particles can travel deep into the lungs and become embedded in the alveoli, where gas exchange occurs. Even if the particle itself isn’t toxic, the size alone places a burden on the lungs and can cause disease.

As vaping is still fairly new, there just has not been enough time to do the necessary long-term studies regarding health risks. Though these early studies do hint that e-cigs are a better option than traditional smoking, that isn’t really saying a lot, because cigarettes are pretty terrible. Even if vaping is better than smoking, it doesn’t mean it’s safe. As its popularity continues to grow, it is important to understand the full risk associated with vaping for both the user and those exposed to the vapor secondhand.

Got my first dripper over the weekend. It's a brass monkee clone. The thing hits like a champ. I had to start using .6 from 2.0 nic level to tolerate the throat hit. The flavor is so much better on a dripper.

FWIW, many studies have been done on ecigs:

http://www.biomedcentral.com/1471-2458/14/18/abstract

Quote:
Background
Electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) are generally recognized as a safer alternative to combusted tobacco products, but there are conflicting claims about the degree to which these products warrant concern for the health of the vapers (e-cigarette users). This paper reviews available data on chemistry of aerosols and liquids of electronic cigarettes and compares modeled exposure of vapers with occupational safety standards.

Methods
Both peer-reviewed and “grey” literature were accessed and more than 9,000 observations of highly variable quality were extracted. Comparisons to the most universally recognized workplace exposure standards, Threshold Limit Values (TLVs), were conducted under “worst case” assumptions about both chemical content of aerosol and liquids as well as behavior of vapers.

Results
There was no evidence of potential for exposures of e-cigarette users to contaminants that are associated with risk to health at a level that would warrant attention if it were an involuntary workplace exposures. The vast majority of predicted exposures are < <1% of TLV. Predicted exposures to acrolein and formaldehyde are typically <5% TLV. Considering exposure to the aerosol as a mixture of contaminants did not indicate that exceeding half of TLV for mixtures was plausible. Only exposures to the declared major ingredients -- propylene glycol and glycerin -- warrant attention because of precautionary nature of TLVs for exposures to hydrocarbons with no established toxicity.

Conclusions
Current state of knowledge about chemistry of liquids and aerosols associated with electronic cigarettes indicates that there is no evidence that vaping produces inhalable exposures to contaminants of the aerosol that would warrant health concerns by the standards that are used to ensure safety of workplaces. However, the aerosol generated during vaping as a whole (contaminants plus declared ingredients) creates personal exposures that would justify surveillance of health among exposed persons in conjunction with investigation of means to keep any adverse health effects as low as reasonably achievable. Exposures of bystanders are likely to be orders of magnitude less, and thus pose no apparent concern.
