That stretch of I-70 and the frontage roads are a nightmare in the afternoons. I bet DT and the main roads between them are too. I bet 63 and I70 must be a zoo. I really don't have to deal with the idiots on the roads anymore and now I do my best to avoid them.

I haven' t been to Flatbranch for a while, still great? Did Larry throw in the towel and hand over the reins or is he still hard at it? I used to get the vanilla bean mixed with the ''Oil Change Stout" before it got popular. Larry makes a great "Chile" beer too.

From the Chicago Tribune: same old, same old.

Quote:
The Kansas City plant closing will cost Harley as much as $200 million through 2019, then result in annual cash savings of $65 million to $75 million after 2020. Levatich declined to say how much production capacity will be reduced. At the same time, the company is building a factory in Thailand that will assemble bikes using components shipped from the U.S.
Kinda disappointed American companies are still so blatant about this.

That may be true but it is still a big issue. There are still a lot of people that don't have those features, especially young people who can't afford a newer car.

One wonders why they would do this, unless they're just figuring the motorcycle market here is dying and they need to look to other parts of the world. The only real reason to buy HD is because it's American, not because of value or performance. You buy a Harley because you want to own a Harley. Nobody is going to buy an imported one.

I've was doing some work in AI on my last job. That train is going to run us all over sooner than most people think. I've seen some studies that concluded 55% of all current jobs will be automated by 2035.

The unemployment during the depression was around 33%. There was hope for a recovery. We cant recover from AI. There will be no putting the toothpaste back in the tube.We are going to have to go to a different system or we are all going to be living in a shithole.

Have your kids learn to code machine language now. That train is coming and we are stuck sitting in our old car on the tracks. Most are just ignoring it for now.

All the more reason to start limiting low skill immigration.

Thats what you got from my post? You think 11 million less people will stop that train in the US? Us vs them is not going to stop this train. Do the math.

That is why, unfortunately, we are going to have to implement universal basic income someday. robots will eventually just do all of the jobs. we'll probably even tax robots being used for company use. it's going to be a weird society, because the people who will be rich will be youtubers, video gamers and people like the kardashians. people actually smart and good at shit, won't make that much difference. think we'll be more focused on arts, culture & all that ghey shit.

Its going to be different thats for sure. Its been less than 100 years when 90% of the people in the USA's dream was to be a farmer. They couldn't imagine our society. We are evolving pretty damn quickly. When we dont have to work doing mundane tasks to provide food, this evolution curve is going to escalate even more.
