McNabb thinks Cassel can fit in Reid's system

http://www.kansascity.com/2013/02/11...an-fit-in.html

Former Philadelphia quarterback Donovan McNabb, now an analyst for NFL Network, believes Matt Cassel can fit in former Eagles coach Andy Reid’s system with the Chiefs.

And, said McNabb, Cassel could be the right one to help bring along a young passer in a season in which the draft is lacking in elite quarterbacks worthy of the first pick in the draft.

"It's kind of hard to judge,” McNabb said of Cassel on NFL Network’s Total Access. “In the last couple of years, he's had a lot of injuries which have put him off the field and the team hasn't been that good. If you look back at his Pro Bowl year, he was able to spread the ball around, get Dwayne Bowe the ball and he also had an attack in the run game that really helped him out in so many ways.

“But if you go back to his injuries, he has rib injuries, his throwing hand, two concussions in the last couple of years. His record since 2009 hasn't been that great...One thing you look at Matt Cassel, is this an opportunity to utilize his experience to bring up a young quarterback?

“In this draft, there aren't any quarterbacks that are worthy of going as early as that No. 1 pick. So if you decide to go and wait for the second or third round, you can utilize Matt Cassel to be your guy to warm things up to give that young guy an opportunity to get ready."

The line was just fine before the injuries set in.

When all four of those guys are healthy that's a very good line.

God you're a ****ing dumbass.

Your team has a very good offensive line and you're saying they don't.

Once again, I have no ****ing idea what you were watching this year, but the Chiefs offensive line was one of the better lines in the NFL, especially when Albert was playing.

With Albert back, Hudson returning and a year of experience under Jeff Allen's belt, this line is going to be very very good once again.

Why are you trying to fight this!?

So we can take OL with our first 3 picks like any reasonable franchise would do.

I guess you forgot about the game in which Stephenson raped Dumervil.

sorry man, your idea of a good OL and mine are not the same. I thought they had a few moments, but not once did the OL put a game together where it was obvious they were getting it done up front.

There are a lot of folks saying Jamaal Charles cant/doesn't run well between the tackles, I am just the opposite -- I have seen him run north/south many times with great success. for example, the game in Denver where he set the single game record as a Chief, one of those TD's was right through that a gap. Countless others too, but not so noted because he did not score from 55 yards out, etc.

To me, an OL preforms well when they play as a unit. The 2010 season, they did and though they were still not a good OL, they at least played well together.

I did not see this OL play well together last season. I have a couple players I like there, but until I see the OL work well as a unit, it doesn't mean anything to me.

Too many penalties at key moments. Albert's game is good, he could have a trip to Hawaii if he'd simply stop committing penalties at those times when it just kills a drive.

To be a good player in this league, or in any football league, you need to make those plays that win games. At 2 - 14, this team obviously did not make plays that win.

What's the solution to this offensive line problem we have?

We've invested too goddamn ****ing much as it is. In the past three drafts we've invested 2 2nd round picks and 2 3rd round picks.

And if we let our LT walk (who you supposedly think isn't good enough) and we draft a guy at #1 overall, that solves our LT "hole" theoretically. Meanwhile, the stuff you're talking about with getting insane push in the running game requires excellent INTERIOR linemen more than anything.

Any solution I can come up with to this "problem" you've put forth seems like a giant ****ing waste of ****ing time.

So again, when they MAGICALLY improve 1000% next year with a NON-SUCKY QB under center, are you gonna eat your crow? Or act like this discussion never happened?

SNR, I think they finally have some players, but last season showed there is not much depth when injury occurs. If those original guys had stayed healthy, I expect they would begin to gel. but alas, Hudson, Lilja & others went down. Lilja, I don't care for -- he's a feel good story, small guy yadayada, but I'm tired of good stories that have a host of poor results surrounding them, as I expect many here are.

They still need guys, maybe another starter, maybe just BU's.

And, we all agree a good or even decent clever QB will make this OL better. Hopefully, we will see this in the flesh come september.
