1st round QBs vs 2nd round QBs: a 20 year comparison

1st round QBs.

Out of 52 QBs: 16 Pro Browlers, 20 with winning records, 13 Super Bowl appearances, 7 Super Bowl rings. 17 with at least 100 TD passes.

2nd round QBs

Out of 22 QBs: 3 Pro Bowlers, 8 with winning records, 2 Super Bowl appearances, 1 Super Bowl ring. 2 with at least 100 TD passes.

Note: Five of the "winners" from the second round were Colin Kapernick, Kordell Stewart, Shaun King, Quincy Carter and Todd Collins.

To be fair, he was actually a backup QB. But IIRC, his only real playing time came at the TE position. Could be wrong, but that is what I seem to remember.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

I never mentioned the Chiefs douchebag.

Show me where that "almost" column is next to the wins and losses column.

In the last 20 SBs:

14 were won by a 1st round QB
8 of them were still playing for the team that drafted them

9 were lost by a first round QB
8 of them were still playing for the team that drafted them

7 1st round QBs have made it to the SB on a team other than the one that drafted them, all but 1 (Kerry Collins) won. He happened to be playing another 1st round QB on his second team.

In light of this, I am predicting a Super Bowl win for the Broncos.

Dilfer was a 1st rounder. Favre wasn't.

Yes but the Packers acquired him with a 1st round pick. It's basically the same thing.

A year later. It doesn't make him a 1st round pick.

So youre going on record that the finish with a 12-4 regular season record, not 13-3?

Isn't this exactly what you're trying to argue against? The #34 pick is right in the same ballpark as a first round pick, so why not just take a QB there?

I would certainly feel much more comfortable with that, yes.
