Movies

Yeah, so I saw a lot of movies this weekend.

Elizabeth: The Golden Age - Mediocre, at best. Slow and dragged on. Shorten it to 2 hours and it's golden. It's not, so it fails.

Michael Clayton - Amazing. Everything about it is awesome. However, it's VERY complex and mind bending. You have to think, so be prepared. I still feel like I'm missing key details of exactly what happened. Gotta see it again.

Across the Universe - Perfect is one word that comes to mind. It just works. And, contrary to many people I bet, the movie is best viewed sober. Trust me.

Just dipped back a decade or so ago and watched Hard candy.

Yeah, predictable, I LOVED IT.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

I watched Last Days Here, the Bobby Liebling (singer for Pentagram) documentary. It was humorous, sad, and amazing how much abuse the human body can absorb (drugs that is). I wish there had been some more real life video from the early Pentagram days, but it was an ok doc. Pentagram went the way of the classic artist where there is more interest and value today than when they were playing.

The Ledge: did not want to watch. I'd pushed this flick back on my queue for months. I''m glad I finally got it.

It was much better than expected and I'd rate a B+.

Hard Candy: already discussed that. B-

Enter Nowhere: I'll probably rate this higher than it deserves because I figured it would be total $#it but surprised me. I figured it was a simple slasher flick and.......then.....uh...wait......whut?

In short it's a very well done "indie" 2 hour version of a Twilight Zone episode. That sounds like an insult but it isn't.

I'll admit - I'm biased. C+

The wife finally got me to sit down and watch The Notebook this weekend. Dammit, cried, not as much as her, but if you have to watch it sometime, just be prepared, unless you have no soul. In which case, don't worry about it. Pretty decent story, and supposedly true.

Yes, it was. The wife and I enjoyed it very much. I kept waiting for the bomb to drop (kinda felt like a setup with the outburst over A Farewell to Arms).

It's funny -- that's how I imagined Eagles home games were even before seeing the movie.

I recently watched Mud and The Reluctant Fundamentalist.

Both were good movies. Mud shows what it feels like when you discover that the world doesn't run the way you imagined it to be.

The Reluctant Fundamentalist is another good movie that I really recommend people to watch it simply because it shows another point of view on how some people become radicalized. Somethings may not make sense in the movie, but overall, I think it's one of the best that describes the transformation.

I just watched Cloud Atlas. I didn't know there was a book, hadn't seen any trailer, hadn't even heard about this movie, totally cold going in. And I have to say I was having a difficult time figuring out what the **** I was watching for about an hour and a half. But it was a pretty cool hour and a half so I kept watching.

I am definitely watching again. I thought it was a pretty kickass movie.

I thought The Watch and The Campaign were both horrible films, however on the otherhand I'm a Steve Carell fan, and the casting of Steve and Keira Knightley together made 'Seeking a Friend for the End of the World' even worst.
