-- Horror films you may have missed - suspense, thrillers also okay here...

I'll start with a few.

-The Invitation 2015 - Karyn Kusama

- Dead End 2003 - Fabrice Canepa / Jean-Baptiste Andrea

- They Look Like People - 2015 - Perry Blackshear

I'll add more as we go along here, I have a gazillion to mention - I'd like for some of you to wow me.

Was there a more recent version of that type of plot?

Someone showed me a movie about 10 years ago that seemed like a more recent version, maybe early 90s. Group of kids are lost in a jungle environment, ran into a native tribe, and the last scene is when the guy with the camera realizes that they are going to kill (eat?) him and the group, as they close in on him. That's all I remember, but for some reason none of the other ones I've looked at seem right.

That sounds like Cannibal Holocaust to me.

Have any of you seen the Nicolas Cage film Mandy? I have heard a bit of positive hype about it, and I have the opportunity to see it.

Terrifier was OK. I was honestly getting worried someone made that kind of movie without showing any tits, then it finally delivered in a good way. It did kind of drag out a bit to where I was mostly into my phone by the time it ended.

Saw The Nun this past weekend. Took my wife and son to see it. It's his first real horror movie at age 11.

I'll start off by saying that if you're one of those stuffy "that didn't make sense" movie goers, then this isn't for you. But i enjoyed it.

The movie has all your typical jump scare cliches:

1. The movie is entirely filmed under a "pale moon light" aka, the movie is dark and filmed with shades or blues and grays. Yeah, you know what i mean.

2. The characters routinly make dumb decisions. You know, the typical, "Hey something evil and scary is happening. Everyone split up!" That kinda shit.

3. There a couple real eye roll moments.

But......

1. Excellent jump scare movie. That's what this movie is. It's a jump scare movie and it does it fairly well.

2. Excellent use of shadows and veils. The church/Nun thing gives it some real creepy vibes. Cinematography was nothing original, but it served this movie well.

In summation, this is one of those movies you took your woman to back when you were 19. The story line is full of holes, there's some scenes that are eye roll worthy, jump scares galore with some dark, brooding imagery. It's your token Hollywood horror movie, but it's really good at being that. For what it is, a cheap thrill, it did a great job. If you're a fan of "The Conjuring" movie universe, i highly advise you see this one.

Oh and i like the way they tied this movie in with the others in its universe. I completely forgot that The Nun serves as a prequel. It can stand alone with out reference to any other movie in its universe, but the ending was a nice touch considering i wasn't expecting it.

Like i said, i forgot the movie was a prequel until the ending reminded me.

Mandy is Army of Darkness with a 70s LSD vibe, a touch of True Detective Carcosa, Pulp Fiction gimp scene, and PERFECT synth. I'm not bullshitting, the synth is worth the price of admission alone. Granted, this flick should be seen/heard on the big screen if possible, not sure how well it will translate at home, minus a boss setup.

Disclaimer: There's no tits, which is a minor disappointment, imo.

It's ****ing great tho.
