*** 2013 Prospects: Chiefs Visits / Met / Work Outs ***

Hey all. It's that time of year again.

2 years ago, this thread had a few guys that we selected in the draft. Last year this thread had 4 of our 8 draft picks.

Obviously with a new front office and coaching staff, that trend might change. But things are going to be exciting with some new captains steering our ship coupled with having picks at the top of each round. Get pumped.

I am going to try to embed comprehensive player profiles when they exist, courtesy of draftbreakdown.com. For some of the lesser-known guys, it may just be a random video or profile from their team website.

Reminder as to how this works: When you guys see a solid lead on someone we are interested in, post it in here (links, please). Trying to keep this sucker legit.

Most immediately would say: "Why Sorter, don't you want to have a thumper as your Mike in a 3-4? Isn't Gooden the exact opposite?"

Yes. However, with the way the NFL is played now, teams don't just run 1st and 2nd down and throw on third. You need quality ILBs who can drop into coverage in base, nickel, and dime fronts. IMO, you need those more than a quality thumper (who will likely play 1 down consistently ala Belcher). With more teams utilizing 3W and 2TE (who can run and catch) sets, it seems exceptionally prudent to ensure you have ILBs who can cover.

The 49ers are a fantastic example of this, however even they have started to remove Willis occasionally against passing formations as he ages.

You need two ILBs who can cover. You also need a reliable, aggressive nickel corner as well as a pass rushing 3 tech. These positions that were and are still commonly referred to as "sub package players" are going to be viewed as starters in the future.
I agree.

IMO Kiko Alonso is the same type of LB. He's the guy I want most, but I'll take either.

I watched a little of him last week.

Not bad. Would probably prefer Bostic and a few others but he looks like he can contribute.
