**** Official Rank the QB's of This Year's Draft Class****

I thought it'd be interesting to track how our opinions change over the course of the year on these players, considering how quickly we were able to sour on Barkley and Tyler Wilson.

*Updated*

1. Teddy Bridgewater
2. Marcus Mariota
3. Zach Mettenberger
4. Johnny Manziel
5. Derek Carr
6. Tahj Boyd
7. Aaron Murray
8. AJ McCarron
9. Jimmy Garappolo
10. Brett Hundley

Disclaimer: I haven't watched very many of these players, so my ranking is flawed and more designed to get some names thrown out there for now.

Bridgewater is the cream of this crop and will end up being a top 2 pick.

I don't get the Bridgewater hype.

He's still an underclassman (junior) going into the 2013 season and only has one decent season against mediocre competition. And he's not the "dual threat" guy that people seem to think he is.

Compare him against my two guys, Chuckie Keeton & Marcus Mariota, who are also going to be a junior and a red shirt sophomore respectively going into the 2013 season:

Bridgewater:
Keeton:
Mariota:
Win/Loss: 11-2
11-2
12-1
Comp/Att: 287/419
275/409
230/336
Yards: 3718
3373
2677
Comp %: 68.5%
67.6%
68.5%
YPA: 8.87
8.29
7.97
TD/Int: 27/8
27/9
32/6
Sacks: 28
17
17
Rating: 160.5
154.6
163.2
Rushing Att/Yds/TDs: 74/26/1
129/619/8
106/752/5

Bridgewater is listed at 6'3", 198 lbs.
Keeton is 6'2", 200 lbs.
Mariota is 6'4", 211 lbs.

Bridgewater is a good player, but I don't see where the hype is justified for him to be considered the potential overall #1 pick in the draft when there are QB's available that are as good or better. Also considering that you've got guys like South Carolina LB Jadeveon Clowney, Michigan OT Taylor Lewan, Texas A&M OT Jake Matthews, Notre Dame's Stephen Tuitt, USC's Marquis Lee, BYU's Kyle Van Noy (much better player than 2013 top five pick Ziggy Ansah) - all of whom are better than their respective counterparts who went high in the draft in 2013.

And considering that most mocks have either Jacksonville or Oakland picking first in the 2014 draft, I don't see how it's possible for either team to pass on Clowney. Both teams were the lowest teams in the NFL in 2012 for total sacks, and they are going to pass on Clowney for QB's that weren't as good as either Geno Smith or Matt Barkley at the same stage? That's some crazy shit right there.

And I'm going to throw out some dark horse guys that have the potential to really skyrocket up based on size and arm:

Adam Kennedy, Arkansas State: 6'5", 225 lbs.
- Former Utah State QB that was the incumbent but because of a shoulder injury, was forced to the sidelines and never regained the starting position back due to the explosiveness and dual threat potential of Chuckie Keeton. (Sounds eerily familiar to the Smith/Kaepernick thing this past year.) Decided to transfer to Arkansas State as a red shirt senior to showcase his skills for an additional season in an effort to elevate his draft status. A gamer and a winner with excellent accuracy. A very good athlete as well who isn't afraid to use his legs.

Casey Pachall, QB; TCU: 6'5", 230 lbs.
- Has a lot of tools you could possible want in a potential NFL quarterback: size, arm, accuracy, etc. Was leading the nation in QB rating in 2012 but was arrested for a DUI which followed a failed drug test and admittance of using cocaine and ecstasy to police in 2011.

Entered substance abuse rehab in 2012 and has been reinstated by the Horned Frogs in2013.

As a UGA fan let me tell you Murray (to this point) isn't an NFL QB. Way, way, way to streaky. In a bad way.

I don't get the Bridgewater love, either, to be honest.

I think he benefits from getting to cake-walk through the Big East this season, and his performance against Florida - while solid - just doesn't resonate that much with me. It was good, not great. And maybe part of the reason that does little for me is that I saw that defense in person, when Missouri played them, and consistently saw Missouri WRs running open all over the place (while James Franklin passes zoomed into the hands of Florida defenders).

He also has a big-time rep as a "leader" and "huddle guy" and you know how much the talking heads and NFL folks like to talk up that shit.

I think Geno Smith is/was a superior prospect entering his last of college football. But that clearly is not going to be the mindset of the majority on this one, which we all know rules.

I think people just like saying Teddy Bridgewater. It's memorable and sticks out for referencing early projections. If the guy's name was Frank Hamilton, the novice would be like "who?"

Morris is the best pure passer. Murray...like him...but for some reason he can't win the big games....4-10 against ranked teams in his career? Watch out for Derek Carr of Fresno State. He could be a late riser. McCarron doesn't have an elite arm but still has impressive arm talent and elite intangibles. He just wins.

My only hope for this year's QB class is that McCarron's mom ends up in an episode of "Milfs Like it Big".

We're not drafting a QB until, at the earliest 2016.

Might as well get used to it.

I love love love Marcus Mariota's game. Smart, looks off DBs, pump fakes, has great speed, excellent touch and great accuracy. This kid is gonna be a star if his head stays on straight.

I didn't include Marcus because of his age, although he is eligible to leave after this season iirc.
