I'm still not convinced if he'd made a deep run in the playoffs he's not the QB of the team today. Kind of a blessing in disguise in that sense.

No way. We weren't paying him 20 mill when they knew what they had in the back garage.

It helps that at the time we thought we were getting a top notch corner and a salary dump in return

Same here. Now I’m hoping it won’t require yet another meltdown to move on from Sutton.

IIRC Manning went 1-15 in his first year. At least we won't have to endure that.

But if we had, I would have been fine with it. As long as he's learning and improving, that's all that matters now.

That, right there, fostered a thought-thing on my part. I doubt it will last too long, so I'd better get right on it ...

I haven't looked it up, but I don't think the Chiefs have a long history of "coming back" in the 2nd half of games. At least, that's not my sense of it and I've seen pretty much all of them.

The remarkable aspect of this year's team is that we've actually done that. We came back strong in the donk game and also last Sunday night (a game we would have won if a few, certain events had unfolded differently). Both games on the road and both games in extremely hostile environments.

I don't know ... that's just ... different.

Don't forget the Steelers game. We jumped out by 21 but they tied it by halftime. We then came out and scored TD's on consecutive drives in the second half and beat them down.

The 85' Bears defense isn't keeping Brady out of FG range with 3.5 minutes left.

The game was an outstanding battle, they out played us first half, we outplayed them for 27 minutes of the second half and they got the ball last with the HoF QB at the helm.

That doesn't sound like many Chiefs losses in my lifetime. Maybe a couple of Elway losses from way back.
I think the thing that sucks though is the loss felt like that Indy playoff game.

I still think we can go to the SB (we had tons of starters out) but that loss felt like we were reliving the 2003 season.

Is it rational? No, not really. But in all truth, it's easier to watch a team with zero expectations.

I watch a 2nd tier college team that has virtually no shot at a championship when the season starts. As soon as they get their first loss, "virtually" changes to "literally" and the season is pretty fun from there on out.

Again, it's probably not rational but it's a lot easier to have fun watching when you don't care how the game actually turns out.
Here let Lt. Spears explain it to you.

I've been lurking in the shadows just reading these forums for a bit now, and I had to register and jump in here.
First off I'm going to say I'm on the Patrick Mahomes train ..full speed ahead as far as I'm concerned. What does concern me is what happens when the weather turns bad and We can't "air it out like he likes to do? WE NEED TO SHORE UP THIS DEFENSE! Or we aren't going to go far again in the post season I fear. I hope we can resign DJ. I'm so sick of seeing player wiff on tackles or just being in the wrong place. I personally loved the way Sorenson played, and the guy is always around the ball. Not affraid to come up and hit someone..instead of waiting for the play to come to them. I've never seen our D this bad. I've seen people in here ask what's wrong with them? They played so much better and looked faster when they were with their old teams. ( I will tell you this is probably what happened with DJ as well in Oakland.) When you're not the quickest to begin with and then are hampered by learning a new scheme..then you are going to look really slow. You can tell they aren't anticipating anything. Nothing is clicking and that's worth a step or 2 in quickness and getting to the ball carrier. It's the difference of meetings ng him in the gap, or 3 steps past the line as he's able to put a move on you. All of them are playing on their heels or getting caught up in the trash and non effective. With DJ being familiar with the scheme, he will just look a hell of a lot quicker and able to get the ball carrier easier. With that and he can provide much needed leadership on this D. Something you can't put a price tag on! When it's raining or snowing in KC/ Pitt or NE , we are gonna need that D to step up... because we won't be able to throw for 300+ in the crappy weather all the time. Kareem Hunt and Co. Will be the wildcard in the slop. GET IT DONE VEACH! I hope the rest of the D can make it back soon. We need them in playing shape as well.

Good ol' Spears...

One of, if not the absolute best exchanges, in that whole show...

I get what Lipton was saying, but I'm a pretty damn strong adherent to the Spears school of thought here...

This is where I am currently. A deep run into the playoffs (the deeper the better, she said!) would be great but I am in this for the long haul and know that we will have many more opportunities where we have been able to shore up the defense. And who knows how high the ceiling is for PMII?

Came into this season just looking for our superstar QB to get used to this level and improving for the future. Anything more is just gravy and not really important to me this year.
