Geno Smith is better than Alex Smith

Now line up single file and apologize to Clay in this thread.

This.

Neither of them are very good.

Certainly appears that way, yes. I thought the team would be sufficient.. despite all of the signs pointing to disaster on the OL and WR corps. I thought the defense would rebound to be at least good.. but guys can't stay healthy.

I have no problem owning that. After last season, all parties deserved some optimism.

You don't think Murray is that? Wasn't Murray supposed to have gone much higher in the draft, and the only reason he fell was because of an injury last season?

That is the only thing that makes any sense really, giving Smith that contract and doing nothing else. Let Smith be the face for a while, while coaching up either Murray or Bray. Both Kaepernick and Harbaugh have said many times before and after the trade that Smith was a huge mentor to Kap's game. maybe that is part of the plan. Only one that makes any kind of sense.

In short, no.

The odds that any team stole a 5th round QB who will be the QBOTF are miniscule.

The odds the chiefs did it?

Wasn't it true though that he was expected to go much higher? Likely 2nd round at worst?

Remains to be seen.

He's certainly above average and improving every time he steps on the field.

Uh no he still sucks. I don't know where all this Geno rules stuff is coming from all of the sudden. His team had to overcome several bad plays from him yesterday just to barely beat a miserable Oakland team at home. Stop it

I just don't know for what I would be licking your balls for. We know Smith is good. We know he isn't what many of you want him to be, but we do know that he can play the game at a high level. That the team looked like shit in week 1 is hardly surprising, let alone ball-licking worthy, given what we know about the massive problem on the o line, WR's and secondary.

Statistically Jamaal had a terrible game yesterday also, do we also think he is a shit running back because of it?

I don't know for sure either.... I didn't pay close attention to the draft. I will next year though as I'll actually know a kid in the draft. Will be fun to watch and will have to become a "fan" of whatever team he is on as well. (adding more fuel to the fire for those folks that can't fathom me being a fan of both the niners and now the chiefs). Would be really convenient for me if he'd get selected to one of those two teams though
