Abolishing handshakes: for or against?

What do you think about handshakes?

Personally, I see little advantage to them. In a best case scenario I get a warm dry hand with a reasonable grip. But over the course of my career I've gripped sweaty hands, clammy hands, had my fingers crushed, and probably caught colds. While shaking a woman's hand is fine, I also have a general policy of not touching men and handshakes force me to do so.

I have good company in this opinion. If you didn't know, George Washington refused to shake hands, and would often ensure that his hands were full in situations where hand shaking might be expected. He preferred a bow instead, as do our friends in Japan. Japan is a nice country that hasn't tried to kill us in over 70 years, and some good ideas come out of those islands.

What would you think about a handshake ban, and we replace it with a polite minor bow?

It's a game at the shop to try to take oil filters off by hand. I do ok.
I always take them off by hand. I hate asswipes that that put 3000 ft/lb of torque on them. The instructions say 1/4 turn after the gasket touches. Sons of bitches.

It wouldn't be such a deal if I could get a wrench on my 08 trailblazer or my 10 sierra filters. That is a no go. Especially without a lift.

At least the wifes Buick has a cartridge. That I need special ****ing socket to get off. Thanks for the guidance on that BTW.

I hate engineers.

Agreed. I'm a firm but fair guy unless someone thinks they are gonna make me feel it.

If you can't take it off by hand then whoever put it on should have both their hands crushed in a vise so they'll never be tempted to touch another vehicle ever again.

So oiling the ring is to make it easier to get off? Never realized that, I always assumed it was to make a better seal. Makes sense though. Maybe that's what happened with some of these sonofabitches that I've had to fight.

I always pour a lil bit of oil in the filter, too.
