Are you happy with the Andy Reid hire?

I think most of us are happy with the hire, but I want to gauge the non vocal approval of this hire as well as the overall approval.

This is a pass first league. Reid is here to build a 21st century (long overdue) passing offense for the Chiefs.

All the people obsessed with running the ball should get over it. That isn't how you win in today's NFL.

Hmmmm, i would have liked to see Chip Kelly myself.

I hope that i am 100% wrong, and that AR returns to his former glory, but i just don't know if he had much left in the tank.

We need energy and fire to turn our 5 (potentially 7) probowlers into superstars week in and week out...

Just an FYI that Chip Kelly is 49 and Andy Reid is 54... not a big age difference.

Reid, if nothing, is a proven coach who can build a respectable program. That, more than anything, is what the Chiefs organization needs right now. Just get your homefield advantage back, and who knows where that could take you.

More than anything, though, I think these playoffs prove that in order to win, you need a quarterback. Reid is a good place to start, but you guys need the next RG3 or Andrew Luck or something.

There's a guy in one of the other threads who seems to think that the next RG3 or Andrew Luck or something is already on the roster.

I like the hire because he's a proven winner, but I'll reserve my complete happiness until our QB situation is solved. I can't say I'll be too excited if Cassel is retained or we obtain another crapfest scrap pile like Alex Smith.

Yes and No.

Yes, because the guy knows how to coach, game plan and win and specifically develop QB's in the NFL.

No, because I worry here is a guy who has a helluva a lot of emotional family pain hitting him from all different directions that is so overwhelmingly frightening for him he doesn't know how to deal with it all other than throwing himself even harder into being an NFL coach, so as to avoid being alone with his own emotional grief and regrets as a father, not just from losing his son but all the years he lost with both of his sons that he cannot get back. I think his son's death whether accidental or suicide was when the season became 'just a blur" for Andy and he lost focus. The Eagles never were on track the whole year. Yes they dealt with a lot of injuries but so do a lot of other teams and Reid had dealt with injury ridden seasons before and was still successful.
I worry we are getting a well meaning guy who is not only burnt out BUT still grieving that will keep him "still in a blur".

By all means I am not judging him whatsoever and I'm sure he has to be getting personal help for not only himself but his family as well. BUT with men in particular I have seen this so often where men have a much much harder time grieving and just throw themselves into their work even harder only to spiral further down. Anybody who thinks by throwing themselves harder into their work helps them grieve better is just wrong. It actually prevents grieving. I worry that he is just jumping right back into another challenging fire in order to avoid grieving and dealing with his heavy emotional burdensome heart.

I don't mean to be "Debbie Downer" here but don't be surprised. I am excited about the hire don't get me wrong but I do worry that we have a coach that might still be struggling to focus.

He was in my top 5. I have been approached by several people up here I will give the same amount of time that I gave Peeholi. The local GM at the local Buffalo Wild Wings up here looks to me for Chiefs news and he is excited. My normal watering hole on the north side. The north side or Moorhead store I can get the Chiefs on Sunday with notice you are in town.

I'm happy with the hire for 2 reasons.
I think he is one of the best in the business at developing QB's. We are very fortunate he was available especially since we will be picking a QB with the #1 pick this year. We couldn't have had better timing there IMO.

I think he is one of the best strategically at putting together a good passing game. With Reid we will pass more and better. And we will develop a good QB along the way.

*He fills our needs that we've lacked over the years. With Reid we will have a good passing game, QB and head coach. But more importantly, the team will be fun to watch because they are going to score lots of points.
