Star Wars Rogue One Spoiler Thread

There's quite a bit of info trickling out so its probably time to start a spoiler thread. I'll update with a trailer when it's available.

Trailer #1. This looks amazing!!! Darth Vader, The Emperor, Jyn (Rey's mother?), Forrest Whitaker, Donnie Yen and Alan Tudyk.

I disagree with that. I certainly preferred the original muppet Yoda to the CGI abomination of the prequels.

The scenes with Yoda on Dagobah were among my favorites of the entire original trilogy

I watched them for the first time like a year or two ago, though, so take it for what it's worth.

I'd love to see what they could have done with those Luke v Vader duels with today's technology and fight choreography.

Because the fight choreography in the OT was absolute trash

Well, that also makes no sense. Dude doesn't know shit about the force until he's like 25 then trains for a handful of years and is able to duel the greatest Jedi killer in history? **** you.

But I was speaking specifically on the fight choreography. It was shit. It was hindered by it's time, I know, but facts is facts, dawg.

Vader wasn't trying to kill him.

And the OT saber fights are greater than the PT saber fights in every way, so just can it. No one cares about ballerina lightsaber duels.

That shit had it's place with in their prime Jedi, not a n00b and a half-man, half-machine who's heart wasn't in it.

Let me explain this shit since people never, ever, ever get it.

In the prequel trilogy you have Jedi at their peak ACTUALLY TRYING TO KILL EACH OTHER. The greatest duelists ever, in their prime, trying to slice bitches up. So the lightsaber fights are appropriately awesome.

In the original trilogy there are three duels:

1. A robot vs an old man who really isn't trying to kill him anyway.

2. A n00b kid who knows only a few basic lightsaber techniques vs a robot who isn't trying to kill him and is really just toying with him.

3. A slightly less-n00b kid who is conflicted about killing his opponent vs a robot who, again, isn't trying to kill him at all and thinks he wants to take him out for ice cream after, anyway.

So yes, there is some gray area in there where the technology at the time limited how awesome the duels could be, BUT THEY WEREN'T SUPPOSED TO BE AWESOME.

THEY WEREN'T SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT LIGHTSABER GLOWSTICK WANKERY.

**** your choreography. It has nothing to do with the emotion or the characters or the narrative that was delivered PERFECTLY in each and every one of those duels.

And that is why the prequels suck ass.

Sounds like a George Lucas one who sucks the penis trying to justify dated fight choreo.

It's shite. Just accept it.

We need to all celebrate the fact that Lucas can't touch this franchise any more.

One of my favorite scenes was of a star destroyer that I thought was in deep space with stars in the background just coming near the camera.

Then it comes out of the shadow, the camera pans out, and those "stars" are just the lights from the Death Star behind the Star Destroyer. That was ****ing epic. Something so simple, yet I had to rewind and watch that again.
