Geoff Schwarz on 610

Said he will play wherever he can get playing time but he would prefer to play Guard. Says he gets to impatient when he plays Tackle with his hand work, specifically his punch on the defender.

He hasn't played LG since freshman year in college. But he said they are rotating them around him practice. He went from RT to LG. Said that was kinda weird.

Also said, He was in Minnesota last year and he compared Eric Fisher to Vikings OT Matt Kahlil.

They're not performing a full NFL physical in less than an hour.

It's a pretty safe bet we would, unless Albert got injured and didn't play much for his new team.

Again....if he keeps playing at a high level, as he has the last two years...you really don't give a shit what he's paid.

They were talking about this on Sirius NFL Radio the other day - physicals are pretty time intensive. X-rays, MRI's, tests out the ass.

This isn't the yearly checkup we all get from our family physician.

The draft starts in 35 minutes. It's not happening, unless one of the two points I laid out a second ago come into play.*

*for us to receive #54 this year, at least.

For the same reason Bowe deserved to be one of the top 3 paid WRs in the NFL

Yeah and that's just really depressing.

Time to log of CP and go find something more productive do, like watching paint dry, than worry about the Chiefs.

Look at the advanced stats...Albert is a good pass blocker and is mediocre at run blocking and you want to put him at right tackle?

Yeah, no.

I also thing LG is a slightly more important position than right tackle and that's backed up by contract dollar amounts for each position.

Good left guards get 7-8 million per year...good right tackles get 4-5.

If Albert stays, he should play left guard.

If he's going to take $10M, and play wherever needed and be a good teammate, I'm good with that. Maybe it's the result of rampant speculation, but my impression was that he would not be okay with playing anything but LT, because it would lower his market value. Combine that with an already way out-of-whack self perception of his market value that means we can't even trade him, and it's pretty frustrating. At best he is a purely mercenary player for us now.

I had been pinning it on the Chiefs for not just getting him signed, but if the Dolphins are balking at his asking price too then Albert is out of his mind. The Dolphins want him more than any other team in the NFL.

I can. Is it a slight overpay? Sure. But it's no worse than giving a ****ing punter 3 plus million and there was no wailing and gnashing of teeth over that idiotic ****ing contract.

You know what happens when you try to extract every last scintilla of value from every contract?

You end up with a supporting cast like the Patriots. Carried by one of the top 5 all-time QBs, but deficient in so many categories that not even his greatness can overcome it.

This is the kind of micromanaging bullshit I'd expect from Pioli. Yes, you should always strive to sign a player to a cheap contract, but there are times when that is not possible and the value he gives your team is greater than the numerical difference between what he's asking for and what you want to pay him.

Keep in mind, the Dolphins not only have to pay him, but have to compensate us as well.

I mean mercenary as in short-term, no future. Great if we are trying to make a run this year, but not the kind of thing you do on a team that is coming off a 2-14 season. There are better investments you can make.
