Another thing nice about stubhub, is that the buying fees and selling fees are high enough to make arbitrage very difficult unless you can sell for a really big markup. So, people can't just grab these few tickets and mark them up $50 to keep the price where its at.
I guess if you had hundreds of tickets listed you might buy a few to prevent a panic, but otherwise you just have to glare at those tickets and hope they go away quickly before any other sellers see them and react.

The funny thing about it is if people weren't so collectively greedy, and would have priced them about where other cities were selling, many of us would have just shrugged and bought them.
I wasn't really in the mood to play games, I have plans to make, I would have liked to buy tickets earlier this week. I know you can get tickets cheaper on the day of the game, but I like having a choice between lots of seats and having my tickets printed out days in advance, and I'll pay a bit more to do that. But the ticket prices for this series are SO absurdly high, the sellers are collectively training the KC buyers to wait them out and jam them into must-sell mode. Fine damn it, if you are gonna make me go through the hassle of monitoring the market and checking it several times a day to make sure I don't miss the bottom, then I'm gonna go ahead and squeeze every last nickle out of your sorry ass.

I can see the world series tickets holding firm a little bit above the ALCS, because the face value was a lot higher than the ALCS. At some point with the stubhub seller fee, if people are looking at just breaking even or taking a loss, they may just give them to a friend out of principle.
That said, I know how much they paid for upper-deck seats, and I'm fine with them making an extra $100 or so, but I am not going to pay them triple.

One other thing to remember is that it takes a paper ticket to get in. They won't scan your phone for the WS. (I haven't confirmed that myself, but heard it from an employee of KCR).
So if you plan on waiting to the very last second, be at a place that can print before you get to the stadium. Good baseball team problems... |

Some tickets were being sold on kcroyals.com this afternoon, but I was never able to get anything to come up. Had several sections "available". Any semblance of a chance of getting through disappeared about 20 minutes ago.

They were all singles scattered around the hy-vee box section. I wasn't fast enough.
Some of the people who bought them were smart enough to instantly list them on stubhub at really good prices that will definitely sell quickly to avoid the plunge thats coming this weekend. Those guys will probably each make about $200 per ticket.

I'm not even thinking about the lower section. If prices fall really crazily low then I might, but right now I'm hoping for a great deal on hy-vee box at around row H or better.

I can picture hundreds of people getting home from work right about now, checking their stubhub account, and going "oh, crap". Its not a rout yet, but tons of tickets are now adjusting to the new "$500 get-in" paradigm.
edit: game 6 and 7 is being impacted now too
