Any Iowa Lawyers On The Board

My wife's nephew got busted with marijuana in his car in Iowa and he had an AR15 in the trunk. They are going to see a lawyer tomorrow but it sounds like he is getting charged with some sort of gun charge to go along with the marijuana charge. I was looking at Iowa laws but the only thing I can find is if he was distributing the marijuana then they could charge him with extra shit. As far as I know he only had a small amount for personal use.

Anyone know the law in Iowa for just possession and having the AR15? Maybe point me to the statute so I can read up on it. More out of curiosity and also so I could fill my wife in on it.

It could be one of the numerous available conversions to a higher caliber, but I wondered the same thing. To me, .223 was always more of a varmint/pest cartridge.

Fantastic country, but I think the extradite.

Just searched... they do, and now I can't commit any serious crimes for a while or it will appear premeditated based on my search history. Also that I view a lot of tentacle porn.

Well, in that case, I think your nephew-in-law needs to talk with everybody he can find; advocacy groups, pro-bono attorneys, public defenders (who have dealt with the arresting officers), and anyone else who might provide some insight and leads to resources.

I wish him luck, that's for sure. Hopefully, he can find an attorney who can get the case thrown out on the basis of improper search.

Your nephew is probably f’d, btw, unless he hires the most connected defense attorney in his area.

The SC has been slowly eroding protections from illegal searches for years. Just another shameful legacy of the quixotic War on Drugs.

I dont look down at the position necessarily, but the individuals I knew who were PDs were not the best attorneys I knew.

A good deal of that is they are young and inexperienced.

Not in all cases.

On the other hand, some are great and love doing it even though they could make more money practicing elsewhere.

I know several people that have the upper for .450 bushmaster that is a legal deer round gaining popularity.
There are several calibers that fit the legal bill for the new regulations allowing "Straight walled cartridges"

That said, I don't have any information to help EL Chapo...
