The country music repository thread

I've considered doing this for a long time but often figured I was the only one that cared. Kyle DeLexus' thread has shown me that's not the case.

If you have an appreciation for country music feel free to use this as a place to post videos, news, personal favorites lists, concert experiences and anything else country related. Old or new doesn't matter. Just have fun with it and ignore the haters.

Naturally I have to post the greatest country song of all time as a starter.

JMC's "rocker" that had just come off the charts at the time of the show. Cool to see him do it live and look just like the vid.

I'd forgotten about this song....thanks for reminding me. This one and "The Walk" are right there when it comes to my favorite sentimental song. Carrie Underwood's recent hit "Temporary Home" is right there also.

In fact since he couldn't stay after the show (had to fly back to Nashville that night for a morning appearance on tv) he spend most of the concert signing autographs while singing... even went into the crowd a few times to sign for people not up front.

In most shows I've been a part of you need to have your station stuff to be autopraphed ready and easy to do for them before the show. JMC made sure we unbundled our t-shirts so he could sign right on our logo and he signed both the cd case and inner sleeve for our cd giveaways. That may not sound like a big thing but it's rare that the stars will take the time to do it right.

Then he hung out with the station staff in the halls backstage and asked more questions about us than we did about him. JMC will always be a favorite of mine simply for the respect he shows to the people who are helping his career.

A sad video...and for some reason it didn't seem to get the play it should have.

He's another underrated singer and I am glad to see that he's very fan-friendly. Great story.

I don't think he's a good singer at all vocally and I'm just not into "party country" much.

I also blame Shania Twain for a large part of the crappy pop country that rules the day now. She was one of the first to really take worthless lyrics and over-produced shit to the top of the charts without even trying to sound country. All imo of course.

What? I don't care what you think of Garth's music but, his voice has so much range. I would wager that a very high percentage of professional singers envy his vocal talent. I mean, the man can sing songs most people can't. I just don't where you are coming from there.

This is an outstanding post. I had almost forgotten when she crossed over. What an awful time for country music. Thanks for posting the perspective.

He sounds flat to me a lot of the time. "Rodeo" is one example. Like I said to each their own. A lot of people love him. It's all good.

Of course I have not heard the studio version in quite some time, I always listen to the live version. So there may be some variance there.

I do like his music quite a bit. I think he's got a really good voice, nice tone and great phrasing.

I think the thing with Garth Brooks is that he was interested several types of music and he sang what he liked. It didn't always work but I found most of it enjoyable. I am fond of "Ireland", more folk music than country but it stuck in my head and I love the opening.

Wow....an awful lot of anger there. You must be a big time Garth fan.

I'm just like the Dr. I just don't see the vocal talent. I see him more as an entertainer...he puts on a great show with alot things going on around him that makes the crowd forget he is just a better than average singer with a great ability to relate to the crowd and entertain.

Garth did some stuff early in his career that was really great, but towards the end, his heart wasn't in his music. But I'll give him that he never let the fans down on any of his shows. He also lived up to his commitments (the Walmart tour). Love him or hate him, he was one straight on dude.

Uh no, no anger at all. Just puzzlement. I've heard a lot of negativity towards Garth over the years but, never anything about his voice. That is a first for me.

And if you listen to his entire body of work you will find he has an amazing voice that ranges pretty damned well.
