Off Season Lets Talk Guns

Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

I held an AR with one on it and it was slender and sexy. The profile was so much nicer than the other rails I have held (except for my TDI).

That's the same thing my Sampson came with. They're obnoxious to install, but work well.

The funny thing with me is that when I am planning something like this I typically end up going the opposite of what I think I want. If I had planned to just deck this puppy out I would probably end up doing very little with it. As I plan on adding very few attachments, I'll probably end up adding at least a few I'm not counting on at the moment.

I like having options as much as I like quality. So this seems like a good fit for me.

So that you can mount a vertical grip to it and look really cool.

Seriously though it's for mounting metal sights. I reccomend Troy as mentioned earlier.

I have three ARs with the Troy Alpha handguards, and they aren't hard at all to adjust. By far my favorite handguards I have. I have YHM customizable, DD quad rails, etc on my other ARs, and the Troys are my favorite. Very light, completely customizable, and you can buy more of the rail section if you need them. Very easy to add the sections to add a grip, light, whatever.

I prefer modular rails myself. Adding the rail sections is kind of a pain in the ass but not so bad unless you decide to move it.

Check out a place called IWC, they make the mount'n'slot accessories for these types of handguards. Great for having low profile sling attachments.

I love my Sampson foregrip, and from the pictures it looks like the one you're getting is very similar. Sturdy, lightweight, extremely functional, looks great.

There's a groove on the inside you have to slide a plate into, and then screw the bolts into it from the outside. Because I have a longer rail, it's a bit of a pain to hold the plate in place, but on a shorter foregrip it shouldn't be as difficult.

And, of course, this isn't something that you'll be farting around with all the time.

You could use 4 of them and put one on each side.

I am going to do a longer rail to cover a low profile gas block, so you will probably see me on here bitching about it.

Thanks for the input.
