NFL Supplemental Draft 2015 results!! Isaiah Battle picked by Rams in 5th round
The St. Louis Rams have used a fifth-round pick in the 2015 NFL Supplemental Draft to select Isaiah Battle. The St. Louis Rams will lose a fifth-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft to select Battle, an offensive tackle out of Clemson. Battle was one of seven players eligible for this year's supplemental draft, but he was the only one really talked about as a potential selection on Thursday.
Battle is a talented offensive tackle who many thought could elevate himself to top-five status at his position with another productive season at Clemson. He's started just 15 games over the course of his college career, with 11 of those games coming last season. That said, he's been more known for an uppercut that caused him to get suspended and potential off-field issues than his play on the field. Still, there's something to be said for the talent he's shown on the field to this point, and it makes sense for an NFL team to take a flier on him. Battle would have become an undrafted free agent had St. Louis not selected him, making him free to sign with anyone. With his ceiling, he's worth the investment, especially at this point in the offseason where teams have generally finished signing players and are set to head into training camp. The Rams also spent four draft picks in 2015 on offensive linemen, to support a new power running game behind rookie first-round pick Todd Gurley. No other player was selected in this year's supplemental draft. The other eligible players included West Georgia defensive linemen Darrius Caldwell and Dalvon Stuckey, Houston defensive end Eric Eiland, UConn tight end Sean McQuillan, Kansas defensive back Kevin Short and North Carolina Central wide receiver Adrian Wilkins. All of those players will become undrafted free agents and are free to sign with any team. http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2015/7/9...ah-battle-rams |

That is a good pick. He was projected to go somewhere from rounds 1-3 next year. Most thought the Falcons or Broncos would take him.

I know Cris Carter did in the 80s, but has there been a supplemental draft pick of any consequence since?

Chiefs add Kansas cornerback Kevin Short after supplemental draft Posted by Curtis Crabtree on July 10, 2015, 1:49 AM EDT Only one player was selected during Thursday’s Supplemental Draft, but Isaiah Battle isn’t the only player eligible for the draft to find himself on an NFL roster. According to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun, the Kansas City Chiefs have signed Kansas cornerback Kevin Short to a standard three-year undrafted rookie contract. Short left the Kansas team last September for personal reasons. A junior college transfer from Fort Scott C.C., Short never played for the Jayhawks after redshirting in 2013 due to being academically ineligible. At 6-foot-2, 190 pounds, Short has good size for the cornerback position. However, his lack of any real collegiate playing experience will likely mean a steep climb in his attempt to make the Chiefs roster.

By Jesse Newell jesse.newell@cjonline.com Kansas cornerback Kevin Short has withdrawn from the team for personal reasons, coach Charlie Weis announced Tuesday. Short, a junior juco transfer who sat out a season ago to get his academics in order, was battling for a starting cornerback spot. "I am sorry to report that I must withdraw from school for personal reasons," Short said. "I want to be clear that I am not leaving due to academics and I am not being dismissed from the team. I am not sure what the future holds, but I am hoping to return to KU." Weis said he didn't foresee a way Short could be back this season. The coach said he could be back, though, in January. "He has some personal issues that I can't do anything to help him, which I tried," Weis said. "There is nothing I can do. Sometimes the fan base wants to look at while he's leaving for academics or he's leaving for social issues, but he's leaving because he had to leave." Short, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound native of Florissant, Mo., was a first-team juco All-America selection for Fort Scott CC in 2012. Weis indicated that Short would have started the season in a backup role had he been with the team. "It isn't like we haven't been prepared for this," Weis said. "We've been prepared for weeks, so this is not something that just hit yesterday." |

I wonder if a guy like this tells people in later years that he was the first pick in the NFL draft. Technically, he's right.
