PC n00b - HELP
Looking to buy a DECENT gaming rig. Not looking to spend a whole lot of money. Would ideally like the computer to still be able to run basic programs (internet, Microsoft word, etc)

Any tips, suggestions, etc?

where you located? Craigslist is a gem to snag pc's off of, you set the bait and wait a few days they will bend to your offer. My PC I snagged is a i7 6700k, 64 gigs of ram, 3 ssd hard drives, and a Nvidia GTX 1080 for 1500 bucks. I couldn't of built it for less than 2000 at the time.

Does that $500 budget require a monitor? Do you have any existing parts?

$500 won't go far for a complete gaming computer. Unless you build it yourself. Average monitor would be ~$100 in addition at least.
