Simply Red got me thinking...
SR is all about good old comfort food... food that brings back memories.

I'm wondering what you ate for lunch in high school? Did you bring your lunch, did you buy the hot lunch, did you go out for something better?

We had the innovative "scramble" system when I started high school. That meant you could get the hot lunch or go to the "deli" for sandwiches, sides and a dessert.

To be honest, I think most of my lunches were from Smaks. They had great burgers and we got out of the building (honestly or not)

K-12 was all in one building for me (small town). So I ended up eating the same food year in and year out at the same cafeteria. Lived too far away to go home for lunch even in high school so I ate school lunch every day for 12 years. I was never fat, since I know BEP will ask that.

I honestly didn't mind it. Then again, I'm just a hick.

I saved my lunch money in high school for gas and weed and just ate like 10-15 packs of the free club crackers from the salad bar every day. Occasionally I'd get crazy and put mayo and bacon bits on them.

Just ate whatever they offered. Unless it was gross, then I survived until I got home. Or went to the side kitchen and got Pizza Hut or some sort of Little Debbies with Hawaiian Punch in a can.

Baked potato bar day was the real deal. Other than that, eh. Nothing too exciting. Square pizza was not good, but we all doubled up on that day anyhow. And chocolate milk all day every day.

I always ate hot lunch from like 3rd grade on. Elementary school/ middle school food was SO good. Small little Catholic school, and those cooks took their jobs pretty seriously. Chicken fried steak and potato bar eye my favorite.

High school food was generally ass. Occasionally they'd have those little circle pizzas, but it pretty much seemed like that was the kind of food you'd be served in prison.

School lunches are not anything close to what they used to be. I eat at school 2-3 times a week.

We used to get unlimited food. Now, everything is under portion control. Thanks Michelle.

We used to get home made rolls. Hand kneeded, hand made by Helen. Now, they are all wrapped in plastic and pre-made.

We used to get cooked food. Now, everything is warmed up, processed, baked, low fat. No white rice.Baked chips, not fried. They were giving us sweet potato fries.
We finally got real potato fries back.

There used to be a variety of foods. Now, it is not unusual to have chicken three times a week and tacos once.

Students are REQUIRED to take a fruit and a vegetable. Yes, required.
