Question for the DD-WRT experts
I'm having a problem with excess bandwidth and can't figure out where it is coming from. My Buffalo router had a really good bandwidth monitor but it is only a one size fits all overall usage monitor. I need something that will monitor usage on each individual device. Are there any add ons for DDWRT that will do this? I'm not really having any luck finding anything that will do this.

Would anyone like to purchase a brand new never opened BUFFALO AirStation HighPower N600 Gigabit Simultaneous Dual Band Router (WZR-600DHP2).

They are just sending me the exact same router again instead of the original DHP with DDWRT citing that they no longer manufacture that model and have no refurbs.

Since it doesn't have the DDWRT firmware and I have already had a bad experience with this model, I really will have no use for this router. My out of warranty Belkin will work just fine for that now. Sounds like it arrives Monday.

Supposedly corporate is going to call me to discuss if I have any further options aka refund or next model up, but I don't have high hopes on either.

Dude, I've been working with Netgear for a week with what appears to be an ARP issue in the R7000.

I've tried 3 different firmwares, done all of the troubleshooting, and even taken packet captures with Wireshark and they don't have any means for me to send them the files.

Their support site only supports 10MB attachments and they don't have an externally facing FTP server.

They actually asked me to install Teamserver, which is remote control/emeeting software so they could download the files directly from my PC.

I ended having to setup an FTP server. Unbelieveable that I've basically done 100% of the work in an effort for them to fix these issues.

Well, it's AC1900 first of all, so with the right client, you could theoretically see Gigabit throughput (yes, 1000Mbps) on the 5Ghz band.

sheesh. I don't think I need that beefy of a router but it sure sounds nice.

Just got off the phone with buffalo and now they are going to send me the new upgrade to the dhp2. Said it is supposed to be on shelves later this month and they will ship it as soon as it is out. The good news, this one has DDwrt on it. Why they went away from that on the DHP2 is beyond me.

The other day my network lost power and my Airport Extreme wouldn't come back on. Thought it had been Gugu'd for sure.

Luckily It just didn't like booting up with all the Ethernet and USB ports plugged in.

If I was in the market for a new WIFI router what would you recommend? Currently I am still using my old Linksys WRT54G

That's tough. The Asus AC routers have all kinds of firmware problems. The Netgear AC routers have similar issues. The Linksys AC1900 just came out and it's running on a Marvell chipset so there's no DD-WRT contingency if things get flaky.

Personally, I think you'd be best to go with a N class router, especially if you don't have any AC clients. You'll have a better chance of finding something mature and stable.

OK, so back to this topic.

I was replacing a Netgear WNDR3700 which was the highest-performing router on the market when I bought it in 2010.

It was still functioning but was starting to crap out and with a TCP limit of 4096 sessions, I was due for an upgrade.

I bought an Asus RT-N66U, which is an N900 class router. It has 1000's of excellent reviews and a couple of different firmware options. I had nothing but trouble with mine.

If you're wanting to stay in the $100 range, you might give it a try. Otherwise, I would recommend you check out www.smallnetbuilder.com.
