I'm not talking about Stanzi you putz. All I'm saying is the ONLY time Cassel threw beyond 6 yds, it was to a WIDE open guy.

Chill the **** out and take your Cassel masterbation fest elsewhere.

Um, that's wrong. First off every pass save the botched play and the screen were over 6 yards. Secondly even his impcompletion to Baldwin was over 6 yards. And Baldwin was not wide open and according to Clay and some others should have caught the ball.

did you even watch the game?

But the real difference in that game was that Eli Manning converted some huge third downs, while Alex Smith was 1 for 13 on third down attempts.

The 1 conversion was a meaningless short pass to end the first half.

Not wrong. The ball never traveled more than six yards in the air, Dexter did most of the work. His only two passes that went over 6 yards in the air, were a pass to a wide open Dex, and a nicely placed ball to Baldwin. The Baldwin ball nullified by penalty.

Don't know why Clay isn't posting his GIF'D UPs on here, but...

GIF'D UP: Chiefs vs Cardinals (Part 1)

You've already seen a few GIFs from the Cardinals-Chiefs game but here are a few more that should entertain. I'll be doing these GIFposts all year so you can expect more like this down the road. Don't expect to see too many big highlights, though, I like to focus on the nuts and bolts of a play rather than the entire thing.

We'll start with the defense in Part 1 and move on to the offense in Part 2. Hit the jump for more GIFs of the defense wrecking things, including a nice Dontari Poe GIF.

First off, the defensive crown jewel of the whole game, IMO: Anthony Toribio absolutely eating the Cardinals alive with a superior individual effort on this play. If the Chiefs get this kind of nose tackle play this season, the defense will be top five. You can really see how Toribio makes this play work because no one else is getting penetration. There looks to be a pretty sizable hole there if the nose tackle is blocked properly. Fortunately, it's not even close.

Speaking of nose tackles, Jerrell Powe did some nice things last Friday. Here's Powe getting pretty decent penetration on a pair of running plays. He doesn't make the tackle but does a nice job with redirecting the play. You can also see Brandon Bair holding the point of attack in one of these, and Brandon Siler beginning to make the tackle in the other.

And here's Powe eating the furniture in the living room on his way to the couch. So to speak.

Here's a play that wasn't obvious to me the first time I watched the game. You can see Tamba Hali getting some decent pressure, and Justin Houston beating the RT badly, but I'm fairly sure it's Dontari Poe that comes up with the tipped pass, which flutters away like a duck.

And to round out the DL we have Allen Bailey with a nice interior pass rush here. Cameron Sheffield beats Levi Brown pretty well too. Kevin Kolb was forced to scramble and chuck the ball out of bounds.

Moving on, we've all seen the tackle Derrick Johnson made, and the sack he helped out on, but this was one of my favorite plays. Johnson and Jovan Belcher both shed their blockers and crush RB Alfonso Smith. This is the kind of play that made DJ one of the top rated inside linebackers on Pro Football Focus last year. Gunther is impressed.

This next GIF is a play that wasn't really focused on during the broadcast (there was no replay), but I loved it because it's Eric Berry flying up from his safety position and playing run support with little regard for his own well being. I like seeing this considering he's just getting back from injury.

There's a great photo of this play here.
That's it for now. GIF'D UP will be back tomorrow with some offensive GIFs, including a couple of nice blocks by Tony Moeaki, and a very disappointing play from Matt Cassel.
Jerrell Powe, bring it home!

GIF'D UP: Chiefs vs. Cardinals (Part 2)

by Clay Wendler on Aug 16, 2012 7:04 PM CDT

Make sure you check out the 'Mortified Punter' Region of the 2012 GIF tournament.

Yesterday we took a look at some defensive GIFs. Today we'll look at some offensive stuff, including blocking, why Matt Cassel is the bane of my existence, and a couple of beast mode plays from backup offensive players.

Hit the jump to see the GIFs, and please, if you haven't yet, check out GIF'D UP: Part 1. This is going to be a regular feature here on AP.

First up, we have Matt Cassel. Now, I know you're all saying "but, Clay, Matt was so great the other night, why you gotta hate?" The answer is "haters gonna hate," so here's the GIF.

Cassel's first read is covered (you can see they were trying to get the ball to Jon Baldwin), and he panics when he flips his head around and there's a pass rusher in his face. The result is a horrible throw in the right flat to Jamaal Charles. You might think this is nothing, but if I see this happen on a key third down in a big game this year, I'll blow my stack.

FORTUNATELY, on the next play, Matt came back and made a good, accurate throw to Dexter McCluster for a first down, and he did it with a guy running right in his face. So good job, Matt. Good effort.

Now let's take a look at some blocking. Below we have Peyton Hillis' big run on our second possession. We'll see just who sprang him, and it might surprise you.
First, there's a nice block by Jon Asamoah to completely stonewall our old pal, Vonnie Holliday. But then Nate Eachus seems to take out two guys, including the nose tackle, with one block. Yup, Nate Eachus threw the key block on this, IMO. And then Hillis just runs over the last linebacker. An all-around awesome play. I still have no idea who Nate Eachus is, but well done. There's a minor assist from Eric Winston at the end, too, and he takes out Rodney Hudson.

Now we have the TD run on our second possession. Holliday is getting owned by our interior line again, and Hudson does a decent job preventing play-killing penetration, but the guy who springs the TD is Tony Moeaki. He takes on Adrian Wilson, who bounces off the block and gets sucked into another one, and then stones the remaining linebacker, letting Shaun Draughn slip through the crack. Touchdown!

Last but not least, check out the QB sneak. Remember all those short-yardage plays where Casey Wiegmann got shoved into the backfield? Yeah, those days are over. Dan Williams gets into Rodney Hudson here pretty quick, but Hudson stands him up and allows zero penetration, eventually shoving him backwards.

How about Steve Maneri? Nothing earth shattering here, but I love this play. He's got a defender riding on his back and still manages to run over another guy. This is some Jason Dunn-type stuff. Love this.

And speaking of Chiefs running over guys, check out this Cyrus Gray stiff arm. That's nasty.

Finally, Terrence Copper gets jacked up. Ouch. Brady Quinn, shame on you.

That concludes this week's GIF'D UP. Scott Pioli, final thoughts?

Irony is defined as Peyton Hillis scoring a TD and handing the ball to a guy in a Larry Johnson jersey.

It's cool that he wants to talk football, but if you're going to be so confident in your takes, have half a clue what you're talking about.

Shit like: Cassel has pocket presence, is a pro bowl QB, Dex/Charles take, Tanney supposedly playing.

Still hasn't pointed out the time on the clock where he says Stanzi got chewed out by Daboll.
