This turned up on Reddit's ever-excellent r/JustRolledIntoTheShop. There's no explanation for why this car was allowed to atrophy like this, but it's possible the person who uploaded this picture immediately recoiled in horror and had to go puke before posting anything further.

Here's the picture in high res.
Part of the reason I am always scared to buy a used car. Many people have no idea about basic maintenance and drive their cars hard.

Wix filters and Castrol oils in all my cars and trucks for years.... Never had an issue...

Well except when the cam in my 1998 surburban went flat after 299K miles...

Something I used to do before I started using synthetic was adding a quart of automatic transmission fluid and letting it idle for 30 mins before changing.

ATF is a high-detergent fluid. It can help remove sludge.

I think most manufacturers recommend it after 60,000. Maybe 100,000.

Cant really put a price on piece of mind.

I don't use them but the non-base level Frams aren't junk. They're not the best but they're not awful.
