NCAA Tournament Selection Thread

Are you excited to fill out a bracket tonight? I have seriously mixed feelings.

I don't know who's given me worse battered wife sports syndrome: Mizzou Basketball or Chiefs football.

Mizzou is expected to make the NCAA tournament for the first tine since 2013. Nice, but so what? In the last 30 years, Mizzou ALWAYS flames out flamboyantly, usually in its first game - including some horrendous losses to a #11, #13, #14 and #15 seed. And when they do make it far, they've either had to forfeit the season or they get Tyus Edney'ed.

It's hard to be this bad in the first round, but check out this history of futility:

1986: Lost #6 UAB 64-66
1987: Lost #13 Xavier 69-70
1988: Lost #11 Rhode Island 80-87
1990: Lost #14 Northern Iowa 71-74
1993: Lost #7 Temple 61-75
1999: Lost #9 New Mexico 59-61
2000: Lost #9 North Carolina 84-70
2011: Lost #6 Cincinnati 63-78
2012: Lost #15 Norfolk State 84-86
2013: Lost to #8 Colorado State 72-84

Oh and if that isn't bad enough, Mizzou also has a history of flame out in the NIT. They've only won two NIT games in team history. So they don't even have NIT success working for them!

Good luck to KSU Wildcats and Wichita State Shockers.

KU doesn't need any luck. Just ask their fans

I really think Missouri has a good path to the S16. With MPJ, and if Barnett plays in the 2nd game vs Xavier, that will be a good game.

As an avid gambler I also find it interesting that KU only opened as a 14.5 favorite when the other three number one's are 22.5 or higher.I don't recall a 1-16 match-up ever having a spread that low and that tells me the odds makers are thinking the same as KC.It'll be interesting to watch the line movement on this one.

Oklahoma State lost to only ONE TEAM who is not in the NCAA Tournament field, in Baylor. And Baylor was the last team left out of the field.

KU, a #1 seed lost four games to teams not in the NCAA Tournament.

Trying to make an argument that Penn even has a 10% chance to win is pointless. They have a 0% chance to win as history tells us.

Anyone who bets the money line for Penn is probably the kind of bettor who put money on Conor McGregor against Mayweather.

Good Lord, man! Get a grip. That KU team lost several games down the stretch. Langford was injured. Totally different situation.

For someone who acts as though he knows a lot about hoops, you sure act kind of dumb sometimes. Guard play isn't just about shooting 3s. It's also about driving. Guess what this KU team has been getting really good at doing the last few weeks?

Oklahoma State challenged themselves in the non-conference too, and while they didn't win they were without their best player in Jeffrey Carroll.

They are going to get bounced by Rhode Island. In fact, I really don't like the match ups the Big 12 got. I expect Tech to get to the S16 and perhaps E8, but I don't like anybody elses chances.
Yeah. I get that CBS wants to broadcast Trae Young, but you HAVE TO get OSU in to at least pretend like you give a flying feces about keeping it real.

There isn't anyone on KU's team that's projected to go to even in the first mother****ing round. AFAIK (I don't give much of a **** to be honest) the only two we have going in the second round are the two seniors (that get minutes).

Agreed. OU and OSU were both worried about whether they would get in before their tournament game and OSU took them to the woodshed. To me, that should've put OSU in and put OU out. Or put them both out. Especially since OSU has some impressive wins on their resume.

I’m with Dick Vitale, OKS should have been in over Oklahoma. You lose 11/15 to finish the year, you don’t deserve a spot.
