He has started at left tackle for 2 preseason games.

His whole NFL career has been a dumpster fire, ever since he was getting abused by some scrub in his first training camp. I don't even remember that guy's name but boy was it a sign of things to come.

Watching those clips He does seem to be manhandled too easily for supposedly being the best offensive lineman entering the NFL this time last year.

His first half of the season was a dumpster fire. His second half of last season was average. Even your beloved PFF acknowledges that.

He's playing a new position now. It's 2 preseason games in. The second game, even your PFF acknowledges he played bad but not nearly as bad as people claim.

His play right now is unacceptable. But it's nowhere near as bad as people want it to be. But in the world of CP, it's easy to point to 1 or 2 plays where things went really badly and ignore the ones where things went just fine.

People need to realize 3
things.

1. The 2013 draft was shit and no player was worth the first pick.
2. Fisher is coming off surgery.
3. Fisher wasn't a finished product by any means, but had high potential.

I liked what I saw from Fisher in the first couple drives. If he is still adjusting to his shoulder on the long haul it will take a little more time.

I'm expecting to see improvement as the year goes on. If not, than it's time to panic.

Except he wasn't. When the debate even on CP was on Joeckle vs. Fisher, the CP consensus was that we wanted no LT at 1.1 but if it was, we'd rather take the "potential" guy in Fisher over Joeckl.

Except a year later when we want to revise history and say that it's more important to contribute right away. I still hate the pick. But christ, I recognize it's only year ****ing 2 and he's playing a new position in what was supposed to be a big learning curve.

What are Fishers potential strengths that are better than Alberts?

Why does Albert belong in this conversation?

If we're talking about… how much worse would the Chiefs be without Branden Albert? My response would be if Donald Stephenson were starting at LT, we'd barely even notice Albert was gone. This has nothing to do with Albert as much as people want it to be.

The strength our current tackles have over Albert is that we can now afford to keep our true playmakers, which Albert is not, like Berry and Houston. Even without Albert we're struggling to do that.

This is his natural position that he played all throughout college and he looked just as lost and as bad as he did at RT last season.

He's had a year to get used to the speed of the NFL game, and it looks as if he hasn't played a down in the NFL before.

At right tackle.

It's still the 2nd game of the preseason. And he didn't look nearly as lost as people want to claim. He got burned badly on a few plays. Played okay not great in a lot of the other ones. He has started 2 exhibition games at left tackle. That's it.

Dude.....it is NOT a new position for him.

He's moving back to his natural position. Just by that alone he should by default, play much better at LT than RT. That's not the case. He's sucked at both sides (so far).

He needs to be Jake Long or Joe Thomas given his draft selection. Anything less is a bust. Is it fair to him? Maybe not, but that's too bad because that has to be his expectation.

Playing LT on the NFL level is different than playing LT on the MAC level. And he still has a ton of shit in terms of muscle memory he has to train himself out of. 2 preseason games on limited snaps isn't going to magically make him an NFL left tackle.

And I could give a shit about his draft position. I hated the pick. I despise taking a LT at 1.1. He'll never live up to the pick. But that's not what this is about anymore. The question is if he can start LT for the Chiefs. It's way too soon for us to know that.

Thats fine if a learning curve was expected but looking at the overall talent on the line it doesnt appear they planned on this being another learning curve year for Fisher.

So either they overestimated Fishers true potential or they didnt do well addressing the rest of the oline in anticipation of Fishers big learning curve to reach that potential.
