Shooting at Arrowhead- Chiefs player commits suicide

No details yet. Just came across on the news.

edit: Sources say the player is Jovan Belcher. Police have yet to confirm.

An unnamed Kansas City Chiefs player has committed suicide at the team facility and authorities are on the scene, the police confirmed to ESPN on Saturday morning.

Local reports say police are operating with the belief the player fatally shot his girlfriend at a house before driving to Arrowhead Stadium and killing himself at around 8 a.m local time. The Associated Press reported the player's age to be 25.

"We can confirm that there was an incident at Arrowhead earlier this morning," the Chiefs said in a statement. "We are cooperating with authorities in their investigation."

There were no other injuries at the team facility, police said.

The Chiefs (1-10) were preparing to host the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

The NFL has told the Panthers to travel as planned to Kansas City on Saturday, the Charlotte Observer has reported, citing interim general manager Brandon Beane.

The guy pumped 9 bullets into his girlfriends body in front of his mom and child, got in a car and drove at a high rate of speed (putting more people in danger) to the Chiefs training facility to do who knows what. Then offs himself when the cops show up.

There is no excuse for what he did and there really is no excuse for the Chiefs Organization to have any Belcher related items anywhere. He should be cleansed from the organization and his name should never be repeated again.
I am as non liberal as it gets and I simply have to agree to disagree with you on this. Its not that black and white. I wish it was because it would make everything much simpler in life but the simple fact is, its not.

And of course, the way to deal with this internal conflict is to publish a photo on twitter.

That is because it isn't a different person. The person you knew and liked did something incomprehensible.

I really think people have a huge problem with this because they don't want to admit they could possibly do the same thing if caught in the wrong circumstances. It scares them so much they just categorize a person who does this as an evil beast rather than a flawed human in a flawed moment.

Maybe. But I doubt ill feel belcher was a poor misunderstood drug addict whose actions were out of his control in a few months either.

We are not excusing bad behavior.

We are excusing people who didn't commit the bad behavior who are in a state of shock and are finding ways to make sense of what happened.

It's innapropriate because the guy took someone else with him. I would have the same view of anyone else that did it.

So long as no one is doing anything illegal, who am I to judge how they deal with this very complicated process?

No. If Bowe has a friend with common sense, hopefully he'll tell him to chill out on that, just like the club did with the players wanting to wear his # today.

It's not like he went out and shot some random honor student nine times, pausing between each shot to twirl his evil mustache and watch the victim squirm. This was a crime of passion, and it probably happened very quickly. Do you know how quickly somebody can fire nine shots from a semi-automatic pistol? It takes a couple of seconds. He obviously reached his snapping point and snapped. Who knows what she said or did to get him to that point? I don't know what kind of person she was, but considering these guys are typically surrounded by gold-digging whores, it's not much of a stretch to think that she might not have been the nicest person in the world.

I've been involved with a few nasty bitches in my time. I never shot any of them, but it wasn't from lack of wanting to.

It's comical how out of hand this has gotten.

If you think wearing that shirt = shitting on the victims or agreeing with Belcher, then I have no idea what universe you live on. You're just arguing to argue.

I'm saying let him mourn how he sees fit. It's less than 36 hours since this all happened.

Basically you're saying that murderers of defenceless mothers of infant kids should not be condemned widely for their actions because, you never know, one of us may do it in the future.

Tell you what, I'll stop thinking Belcher was a piece of shit after I commit the same terrible act that he did. Until then, I plan to judge the shit out of him, because I'm a reasonable person and he did a wholly unreasonable and horrible thing.

Basically what I meant. It can be looked at as who is this person and what have they done with my friend?

That is an entirely possible hypothesis. Some people can't handle the truth that they have flaws, let alone a dark side.
