FWIW I'm seeing that the competition committee is suggesting making it illegal to jump over the center to try to block field goals or PATs.

And they are also suggesting having referees becoming full time employees.

There needs to be a ref in the booth with the ability to call the obvious penalties that the commentators, the talking heads and the 100 million ****ing people watching at home see but somehow the guy who was staring at it from five feet away missed.

Agreed. Someone in the NFL was talking about that recently. Think it has a good chance of happening in the next year or two.

Honestly, they're worried about player safety on those leaps? But, they appear to be fine with players doing all sorts of acrobatic flips as they score... seems legit.

It's the safety of the long snapper they're worried about as much as the player leaping over the line. Currently, they let you get away with it if you don't end up touching the long snapper, but that's kind of like saying drinking and driving is OK unless you hit someone. It's the potentially-dangerous action they're trying to get rid of.

I think it should be up to the kicking team to adapt and stop the center leaping.

Just like when offenses try a new type of offense, defenses have to adapt.

I don't think those are fun plays. They are basically Madden glitches. I have no problem with them getting rid of that. Although on many of those the team could have just waited a half second and let the defender jump offsides.
