Aside from that, my one problem of running into acquaintances is that I am terrible at recognizing people out of context. If I saw my mother on the street, I would wait until she said hello just in case I had the wrong person. if I meet somebody in a situation or location I am not expecting, I am petrified that I will make a misidentification. I have no idea why this is a problem for me.

I went to my 10 and 20 year reunions. The 10 was good, the 20 was more awkward than anything. I doubt I'll go to another.

It's a data retrieval problem. Your recognition lattice is inflexible.

depends on if I can remember their name. If I can't then no.

That's definitely the place to get the best information and build relationships for future business.

Example. I was early in my career and attending an out of state conference. I didn't recognize a soul and was out of place. Across the room I saw a guy I blew from college, though we never really associated more than simple bathroom stuff. The one thing in common made it easy to start the conversation. There has been some form of business relationship since with our companies.
Because you blew him.

I have no doubt believing that people who knew you ten years ago walk the other way.

You're an obvious troll, at least be funny or provoking more than a fly shitting on a picnic basket.

It is awkward running into ex girlfriends. Went to a big Christmas / reunion party last year and 7 ex girlfriends were there-spanning from grade school through high school to a few recent ones. At one point 5 of them were at the same table. Pretty sure my name came up. It got quiet when I walked over and said hi to them. I think they were plotting my death or at least hoping for it.

Yep it might as well have been. Lets just say some of them took extra turns putting on the feedbag. Glad I dumped them all and scarred them for any other guy-lol

This coming from a guy with almost 50,000 posts on a message board. Steven Hawking burns more calories than you on a daily basis.

I enjoy it. I cringe however when people want to become my best friend because we live in the same area. I also hate those people who look up everyone they know when they are going to be in town. It's not a big deal that you are going to be in Des Moines, and no, I don't to hang out with you and a bunch of other people you've crossed paths with.
