I think it's going to be Davis Webb.

This article checks every box on Andy Reid's qb check list.

You aren't going to get a ready to start, finished product at #27. You can quibble about flaws, but a QB who doesn't have obvious flaws will be a top 10 pick any year, and even those guys are a long way from a sure thing.

If you really think this Chiefs team is a contending team, then by all means we should take a linebacker or another offensive or defensive lineman or someone who can contribute immediately.

If you see the way this Andy/Alex experiment all ends - with mediocre results and no Super Bowls - then you should be hoping we are buying tickets in the QB lottery.

This is a 3rd rd pick? You do realize that this guy has Hansen and that's really it right? 3 new OL and all new receivers but 1 against teams like Stanford, USC and Washington with significantly more talent.

What a bad take. At least point to one of his bad games
That is nearly 3 games worth of stats for Alex.

I watched that game. He should have been picked off about 5 times in that game with ease. He hit defenders instead of receivers on easy short routes to the sidelines a bunch of times. 60% completion was heavily inflated by the screen game. You can't just pull stats out of context and call it "good." The guy played like ass for a good percentage of that game, as did he in a good percentage of others. I don't like Webb in round 1 because of his decision making. I'd take him in the 3rd, like Nick Foles, and hope he could learn and get coached out of it. I see them as damn near carbon copies coming out.

I will say it again panicky in the pocket. I'm starting to believe it's Kizer or Watson. They fit the system. Kizer I'm really starting to believe got a bum deal at Norte dame.

Yeah, you are pulling some crafty spin on stats here though. Funny how and for whom that works. His early short slant, Hansen YAC'd that bitch about 75 yards. Another short dump pr so went for nice chunk yardage.

You are mistaking me for some hater. I already said I'm okay with him on day 2. Was just saying.. that one game, all in all... not 1st rd pick impressive. Most of his throws seemed to lack accuracy.. and the ball just came out awkwardly from his wind-up.

Just giving the opinion that after watching that one game.. I'll have to go back and watch more now. If all his games look like that? nope.. rd 3-4 at best.

For a qb, if you're ok taking him in round 2, go ahead and take him in round 1. If you think he's a franchise guy or qbotf, that 5th year option is a really big valuable thing.

Reading the tea leaves, the chiefs don't currently have a backup qb. They may say it's bray, but I'd imagine that's some lip service.

The more of Webb i watch, the more i like him. I think his floor is a quality backup. He seems like a guy that can stick in the NFL. He has the arm to make all the throws, his mechanics look good, though he has the tendency to float 'em off his back foot. He makes some awful decisions at times, but he has the tools, the frame, and he moves well for a guy his size.

What about the QBs that you feel will be quality backups, but with only a so-so chance of developing into more?

Anyway.. just watched the SD State one. He showed a bit more positive in this one. Some of the deep completions felt like it was exploiting a high-school level secondary. The pick 6 he threw at the goal-line was brutal. Had the game won in the end had he thrown a good pass to Hansen over the middle. Couple of near-INTs to add.

Still looks like the ball often comes out of hand funny... like he doesn't grip it right.

He IS unbroken, and can get it down the field. Definitely stuff to work with.. and all the more if his intelligence and approach is what is being described.

Thats insane reasoning. If Foster slides to 27 youre gonna take a guy who you know will be there in the 2nd round?

More of the same short stuff with the occasional deep one VS Washington St.

The ablity to use and manipulate all of these open formations.. added in with the dink and dunk extreme? Using every inch of the horizontal game. Andy Reid is JIHP to get a hold of Webb.

Brutal INT late 2nd Q as Cal was about to score. Looked like he needed to get that slant into the wide open #17 early.. and it was late, so the underneath coverage closed and snatched it instead. Needed better anticipation there.

Not a bad second half. He does show good things to work with. Mostly, the unbroken spirit to keep eyes downfield, and not give up on many plays. I like his drop and composure most of the time.

His accuracy and decision making isn't great.

Sure, if you have a case of magic beans and know a guy will be available later.

Even so, if you think he's your qb for 12 years, I wouldn't risk not being able to take him.
