Somebody's gotta have the inside scoop on Google Fiber launching tomorrow..??

https://fiber.google.com/savethedate/

Live broadcast over YouTube tomorrow. Anybody have any early news on this? Will it be available all over the Metro? How long will the waiting list be?

Anybody know anything? I'm impatient.

There is nothing planned for future rallies, yet.
Northland doesn't even get a token neighborhood.
A CS rep in chat told me their plan is to fiber all of KCK and KCMO by Sept. 2013.

It's all about the user base. Once you have the users you can always figure out a way to make money somehow.

Think about how many free websites get really popular, then switch to ad-supported or premium versions. They seem to do OK.

Don't Comcast/Time Warner charge like $100 for their 50mbs package or something ridiculous? I have Knology and it's $70 for 50mbs and it's capped at 250gb/mo, and 160 total with shitty ass bronze package TV. I'd move to KC to get google fiber.

Yep. Having realtime TV watching habits of households is a data goldmine for advertising.

I don't have/need cable, so I think I'm sold on the $70 gigabit internet package.

It's only ten bucks a pop, watch the map and go visit a few to "borrow their computer" as needed.

Not so much by zip as physical neighborhoods. I'll try to get a better map of the initial rally areas.
Edit : Nevermind.
Thanks, Zooted.

I am not a great map reader, so I cannot tell how close I am to one of the eligible zone. I am near the zoo--435 and Gregory. I think I might be in one of the grey areas, but can't tell for sure.

Yeah, Google invested a ton of money (which they have a lot of) into this project right? I think it will pay off for them big time. I hope they spread to Tulsa sooner rather than later. It's a condensed town with a lot of people in a small area. Seems like it would be easy for them to connect up down here.
